Is there something wrong with using a regular knock or is that not traditional.  Should I take my brass knock off, dont want to be socially ostricized.  I have dental floss, I like dental floss its my friend but is there an advantage and do I just use an overhand knot or what is the twist mentioned above and If I shoot 3 under should I use two knocks or strings.

Just as George says. I do put a drop of titebond2 on it also, and whip knot it as I wrap it, top and bottom, and finish with a squareknot. Nock points last for ever that way.

Brass nocks work well on compounds and for release shooters. I've tried them several times with the same result. They tear up my tabs. They are not as hard on gloves, but they do cut them also.

I find they tear up my tab also.  I like to use one above and one below so that is double wear on two fingers plus extra weight on the string.  I use them to tune then change them.  However, I recently started experimenting with electrical tape for temporary nock points so brass nocks may soon disappear from my tackle box.

Yes dental floss, nylon serving or any of the string materials can be used. Alot of ways to "skin the cat"!  I always apply a little super glue to finish or you can even use the wife's hard fingernail polish.

 I shoot  bare fingers, so no brass nocks for me. And with all the different dia. size "new age" strings, there isn't a one size fit all brass nock set! Good shootin, Steve

Once I find the correct nock point on my string, I double serve it for about an inch above in a different serving color. It never slips and is easy to find in low light or by feel if need be. The little brass ones allways seemed to slip and I always worried about string damage under the serving.

I just started using electrical tape also, plan to leave it and see how long it last, so far so good. Quick and easy. hope it last a while

I make a loop at one end of a foot long piece of dental floss, wrap over the loop with the long end of the floss until I get things built up to the size I want them, pass the long end of the floss through the loop, pull the loop all the way through, pull both ends to tighten everything up, and then cut off the two tag ends. I do one of these above and one below. It requires nothing but two lengths of dental floss and about 3 minutes, and I always have dental floss on hand because I use it on my teeth every day.

I've been using dental floss for about 35 years. I put fingernail polish on it when I'm finished with it and put another coat on itas needed. Get a smoother release and doesn't wear on my glove like brass nock.

I used to bike everywhere with my bow and a brass nock if it got inbetween my handle bars and the bow would scratch the heck outta my bow.  So I quickly went to shooting floss...and then to the nylon serving tied on.

"Start with some number 4 nylon serving cut of 10 "es or so.

Now start with basic overhand knots....(the first step in tying your shoe).

one on the facing you, then, working down (or up your pref here but I do like to keep the finish not away from my nock so I go up), one on the back side, I do this 4 times, 4 in front 4 in back....on the last knot, I double the overhand knot and pull tight. Cut your tags appx 1/4" and burn them with a lighter ...they'll burn and start melting...once they are close to burning into the knot I'll mash them into the nock point I just made by wetting my fingers..pretty simple and it works extremely well."


I just untied my old nock and retied two (one above and one below) using the above method. Worked really well. Thanks for the info!
