I would like to get a nice, rigged, leather bound journal to carry with me hunting. I have found several  but they are all the kind with a small amount of replaceable paper, and I want something that I can keep year after year, with everything in one place. Anyone know where to get something like this?

Moleskin makes several different sizes.  i don't know how rugged you need. I'm pretty rough on my stuff, and it works for me.

Office depot has them.

Onions

I use the Field Notebook from Ben Meadows. It has waterproof paper and fits easily into a pack.

I actually make one that will hold the composition notebooks that easy to replace and hold alot of notes. sounds like what you are looking for.  I put a borderstamp and your initials and either a antler button or a buffalo/indian head nickel concho for $35 tyd in the US.  If interested just let me know, we can make you any size your looking for and just about any color.  I usually mark the leather up a bit just to make it look a little more manly and not so new looking.

Flyin,

Here ya go. A bit pricey, but well worth it.

Get a field book that surveyors use. Probably the same thing that onions is talking about.

Yeah, i have a few of those, but they all have stuff in em here and there. I cant understand why, but they are actually hard to come by. Supply doesnt like to give them up..at least not in our unit anyhow. I jsut wanted something really nice for a dedicated journal. I might get one of 2madjacks covers for one of the green books though, if I can find an unused one

This'll be my 4th season keeping a journal of every outing.  I use an excel spreadsheet, though, and store it on my laptop's hard drive.

I do have a leather-bound book I used to log my forst bowhunting season.  Reminds me....I need to look at that again.....

I started this not thinking I'd use it NEARLY as much as I do, now.  I actually use it to formulate strategies, now.  For instance, I've never sighted a shooter buck from stand (AM), prior to the pre-rut.  So, I won't likely be going where I think one is, before then (AM's).

Jeff, please store it on disk and print it out as well. My old computer just bit the dust, I think, and I HOPE I got all my old pics off of it. It would be tragic to lose your hunting records and impressions to a crash.

I buy those five-subject spiral notebooks at the grocery store and use one section for each year's hunt. One notebook...five years. I write when I get the chores done back in camp, if I am not distracted. My camera serves to take field notes, but I got one of those "write in the rain" journals from Larry Surtees, and can write any snippets of prose or poetry that might occur to me on stand, now.

And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
