I have a son that will be 5 in Jan. and I'm Looking for a long bow for him. Any one have one for sale or where would be the best place to get one. I'm not sure what poundage it should get for him. He has one of them fiberglass bows not but it is not very good condition.

I'm sure Mike can help you and probably give better advice than I can, but based on working with my five year old grandson, go very light with the first bow - like 15/18#@24". Five year olds are not very strong, and especially not across the shoulders - or at least the one I know isn't.

Mike at Maddog will set you up right. Keep the bow light and the shooting fun. You'll have a hunting/shooting partner for life.

Dave's right - five year olds tend not to be long on delayed gratification, so do the best you can to make it easy for him to be successful.  Use a distance and target that he'll be able to get arrows to hit and stick in - there's nothing like success to reinforce an interest.  When my grandson stuck an arrow in a foam target you'd have thought he'd brought home a trophy bull elk.

The bow I made for the kids that pulled around 18-20lbs seemed tuff for them. I had one that went 12lbs and they can shoot it alot easier.
