Not far from the house,I see a buck off in a small clearing as I drive by. A few minutes later came back and pulled off the road to check him out with my bino's......

He had some bloody velvet hanging, and most of the rest of it was splitting!!   :jumper:

Looked to be a real nice 2 1/2yr old 7 pt....It's on boys and girls....rubs will be showing up shortly!!   :jumper:

Was out stumping/scouting the other day with my bow, saw a couple out in a bean field at about 40 paces... Got my  heart pumping real quick.

Been chasing Moose for a week and Bears since July but I can honestly say it's white tails that got me jumpin this year!

I'll be chasing big Bucks with my Brother and Father for the first time in 20 years this October! Can't wait to see Michigan in the fall again! This trip is even out shining Dall sheep for me!  :bigsmyl:

I was squirrel hunting yesterday and came up on 4 squirrels in a tree. However, I looked over and there was a nice buck staring straight at me.  Should have been looking at the squirrels but I wasn't!!

Tip: If you shoot straight up at a squirrel watch out if you drill the brach directly under the squirrel. The arrow will come back at you lol!!

Good question.  A buddy of mine has a huge 13 ptr that has "vanished" in the last week.  He's taken pics of him all summer.  All of his fellow travelers have shown up on schedule still in velvet.  I think he changed up due to velvet stripping and he thinks he's been poached (we have an early antlerless management season).  I hope I'm right and not him.  Only time will tell.

Seems like everything here in the Northeast is off schedule this year. Many of the berries we pick are already going by and our winter squash is already ready to be picked and some pumpkins are already fully ripe and orange. Some of the "late" apples are already dropping. I am betting on an "unusual" Fall this year and do not really know what to expect since the weather and other obligations have kept me from my usual time afield this summer. I am hoping that a decent apple crop and the appearance of acorns on the ground already will make my usual stands productive. If bucks are already shedding velvet....well, who knows what can of worms we will be dealing with next month.

Every buck I have seen is still in velvet as of yesterday.

I can relate that my (east central Missouri) mast crop will be superb.. The White Oaks are full of nuts and the Black Oaks are already dropping their huge acorns. Persimmon trees are absolutely loaded down with fruit...

All of the bucks I have seen(last night I saw a decent 6 pointer) are still in full velvet...

I agree Bill...already have acorns dropping here, hickories too. Should be interesting to see what is happening in a couple of months.
