I have been thinking about trying a Magnus 4 blade head, the 2 blade with the bleeder blade.

For those of you who have used these heads would you please answer a few questions for me?

When you shoot a deer with these heads do you expect the bleeder to stay in the head or is it more common for it to break or come off inside the deer? I've heard alot of people talk about loosing the bleeders from the old Bear heads and that you had to chew the meat very carefully from game taken with the Bear heads with bleeders. LOL!

Can you practice with the Magnus heads with bleeders or will the bleeder blade stay in the target when you pull the arrow?

Any information about the 4 blade Magnus heads that you care to share will be appreciated!

Slu, the Magnus bleeders are much tougher than the Bears but are not indestructible.  I don't remember ever breaking one although I've bent a couple.  Use a little extra hot melt and lock the bleeders in, they'll stay put if you do so.

I practice with the head and have never had a bleeder come off.

I lost a bleeder the first time I shot into my block target.  I didn't glue it in place though.  I imagine I'll practice without the bleeders and hunt with them.

I've shot them for about 4-5 years now into targets and game.  Never lost a bleeder.  Joe

Losing bleeders in game is a non issue. Mostly the bleeder gets bent instead of breaking.

I'm been using the Magnus I w/bleeder since the beginning and can't remember losing one inside an animal... they can come out if you yank the arrow out the way it went in. Seldom a problem for me since most are picked up off the ground.

Slobow's tip was a great one.

If a bleeder does get dislodged it's pretty simple to find them somewhere along the wound channel.

I've never been cut by one while field dressing and don't eat many deer ribs so biting down on a bleeder when eating isn't an issue.
