I got a phone call from Marty this evening. He was sitting 200 yards from Biggie, watching a buck walk right down the drainage toward Biggie. Trouble is, Marty passed up this same buck the first day of his hunt. If Biggie kills it, we will NEVER hear the end of it. NEVER EVER! :>)

     

I got the same info. in a text message from him, I think he is already planning to rub it in    

Their hunt is over. Biggie didn't get a shot at the buck Marty passed up but he did get a shot at another nice buck almost the same size as Marty's this morning but got a "deflection". Yes....we're going to go with the deflection excuse. By the way, I asked Marty if Biggie stood by his promise to gut each other's deer. Marty said Biggie actually PAID off a wrangler they picked up in town to do it! Marty said, and I quote, "Big heart my ass!"

My favorite excuse is "earth wobble". Earth doesn't spin true on its axis, and if you happen to make the shot at the wrong time...

It's happened to me several times. Biggie, you listening? Wobbles can cause deflections, either by throwing off the shot, or by moving susceptible vegetation in the way. And there's nothing that can be done about it! Rest easy, friend, there's always next time, the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise.

Maybe Marty will share some meat??

I was hunting with Biggie and Marty once in Florida. Marty killed a little doe (not with his hands). Biggie asked Marty if he could demonstrate how to field dress a deer the "Quick Way." Marty said sure. Biggie then sat down hard right smack in the middle of the deer. The innards all blew out the back end.

Hey, Gene...I TAUGHT Biggie that trick. Works great on pork as well!!!!!!!!! I've always thought of it as a two step process- in one - gutting, AND tenderizing.

Boy, you guys can drag an empty thread on forever.  I'd love to join you in camp one day.  That'd be as good or better than the hunting!!!

Stuck in Atlanta airport. Biggie got off here and is laughing at my delay, but I got first laugh. Most of the thread is fiction, kinda like Gene's books, but I did take a 5x5 or as we count back east- a 12 pointer! Biggie finally got a shot on Friday am and m........! He'll have to explain. Pics and story will need to wait for some rest, but I assure you it was never a dull moment! He and I did surprisingly well at 9600 ft for a couple flat landers. Maybe the altitude affected his shooting just a bit, but i'm not saying much cause my recovery was a challenge to say the least! I learned that Mulies from Double Bull blinds at less than 10 yes can hear better than your Mother -in- law in the next room! More tomorrow including pic's!

Oh yeah, before I forget- we had breakfast in Provo, Utah this morning. Biggie ordered a Hungry Man's breakfast. When he couldn't finish it he said, and I quote " my eyes were bigger than my stomach!"  I said I didn't think so, and an elderly lady at the table next to us almost fell off her chair laughing! She apologized, but I thanked her!!! Kinda indicative if the entire week!

He told the guides that I just got out of prison, and that I would need to be driven to town every other day to check in with my parole officer( all behind my back). So Monday on the way to my stand the guide offers to take me to a phone! They never turned their backs on me!
