I've got some rattlesnake skins and want to put them on my Pronghorn 'Green Machine' longbow (in my avatar).  I've never done this before, but I recall reading a great how-to with pictures.  Can't remember if it was in TBM, PBS, Compton, or where (maybe here).  I'm a plugger and need the detailed tutorial.  Does anybody recall what issue this was in so I don't have to search through all my back copies to find it?  Thanks in advance.

Bryce,

Don't know where you might have seen the article, but here is a thread from the "How-To" section on Trad Gang....

At least it's a start on the education process.

I've done several Bryce.  Are they raw, frozen, salted, which???

My skins look like  rough suede on the inside. What process was used to make them this way?

It was in TBM...I'll look to see what issue it was, about 4-5 issues ago I think.

Sounds like the skins have been tanned. Not the best option for backing a bow but they will work.

Daryl and the rest, thanks.  Skins just seem real dry...don't know if that means tanned or not.  Like I said, I'm a total rookie on this thing.  Oliver, if you figure out which issue, let me know, but knowing it's that recent I should be able to find it.  THANKS AGAIN.  The snake skins I got were fairly large, and the guy who sent it now suggests I save them for a recurve and he's gonna send some smaller ones whose spots might be better appreciated on a narrow longbow limb.  Trad folks are the best!

Bryce,
Come over to the house and I'll show ya how to apply them.
