I just did up a dozen poplar shaft and sealed them with 3 River Gasket laq.of 3 coats.. After shooting them about 20 times they started cracking... then peeling off in big chunks.... I've made over 20 dz. ash and POC wooden arrows with the same stains and Gasket Laq. with no problems at all... Can someone tell me what am I doing wrong???

Probably your GL has thickened too much. Add some acetone and mix it well, and it should work normally. I use it on poplar regularly without problems, but I do keep it thinned to the consistency of room temp. honey. If you get it too thin, you get "flat" spots on the shaft after it goes through the gasket, but additional dipping evens it out.
