Well its almost time for me to go off to college and was wondering if anyone knew of a archery club near Johnstown since I will be going to UPJ. And are there any good hunting areas around?

Pennsylvania has lots of gamelands to hunt on.  My advise would be to get a Pennsylvania Gazeteer and just start exploring the gamelands close to Johnstown.   As far as Traditional archery clubs, I don't know of any in that area...but maybe someone a little closer can be of more help.

State gameland #42 (good size) is  approximately 8 miles northwest of Johnstown looking at a map, Rt 56 runs through it. To the north gameland#79 (smaller) to the east gameland #26 (good size)both about 25 miles from town. There is also a couple state forest in the area. Check the PA game commission web site for information  www.pgc.state.pa.us/
I'm from SE, PA about clubs in the area contact  http://www.palongbow.com  they also put on about 4 or 5 weekend shoots over the summer months through out the state. Other tradition only shoots are Denton Hill (lots of vendors), Saw Mill (excellent shoot), and Shade Mountain (trying to get there this year), etc....

Flood City Bowmen.  You can google them for directions and number.  There is plenty of public land around Johnstown, you won't have any trouble finding it.  You will be in the middle of the Allegheny Mountains.  I live about 45 minutes from there.

I don't know of any places, but I will also be attending UPJ, I am a non-traditional engineering student. I was accepted and enrolled in Pitt main but could not get the loans I needed so I had to transfer to Johnstown.

Coop and Greg,  Google Babcock State Forest and get some topo maps.  It's about fifteen minutes from UPJ, on Rt. 56E.   There is also a big gamelands down toward Beaverdale on 869, going toward Blue Knob State Park, it's just shy of 12,000 acres.

Coop & Greg Sz,

Here's a tip.

The sidewalk down to the engineering bldg makes a great place for sledding with cafeteria trays!

I still have my "sled" from 1977.

Coop-I never did like you! Good luck man.

That must have been a heckuva cafeteria tray, or you were a lot smaller.     :saywhat:
