Well today is the day....opener of sheep season.  I hate the thought of missing season in alaska...AGAIN! ugg

I've been shooting Steve H's 50lb bow...and tonight managed to get more then 4 arrows.   I've noticed the more I use it the less it seems to hurt.

So tonight, after shooting a couple doz with the 50lb bow, I went to my 60 pounder just to "see" how things felt.   I didnt shoot more then a dozen but what I shot felt pretty good...other then the fingers not being used to shooting for so long now.

So maybe there is a season in my future afterall!  just maybe I'll find a lucky animal to catch my eye, draw my bow and be so gracious to come to anchor......time will tell!

AKDan, why not just go with the 50 lb bow for now to you asre back to your normal self ?

I had rotorcuff repair several years ago and have never gotten back to a bow of 60 lbs or more. I now shoot just 52 lbs etc, but can shoot all day without pain...

Do you need over 60 lbs for the game you are going to hunt ????
you should see how I use to shoot

Bill,

I guess I just prefer 60.  ALL of my bows are 60, minus the one Steve H borrowed me.

And they are set up ready to go, arrows built, broadheads tuned.   So though I wont have a bunch of target time with them, I'd feel a little more comfortable if I was actually going to try and shoot something with a bow I know more then a bow I dont have set up and I have to hurry up and build arrows for.

I may go into the sheep mts this weekend just for peace of mind more then to really sheep hunt.  As much as I'd LOVE to shoot something with one of Steves bows...I know my 'old' bow, feel more comfortable with it confidence wise.   So if I CAN shoot it, I think it'd be foolish not too.   Atleast for that one arrow?   I do bring a blunt along and tussock shoot just for kicks, so I'll have to keep this to a minimum.  And if I really was going to shoot the animal had better be cloooose, which is how I hunt anyways (both my sheep were killed at 10' or less)...sooooo after last nite and the lack of pain and waking up this morning and not hurting at all  I was a bit excited about being able to handle my old bow for a few rounds of arrows.

Steve H.

At the distance you kill rams what does it matter, just so you can shoot one arrow from any bow.  Wasn't it 10' and 11 yards for an average of 7 yards, lol!

Great to hear that things are improving. Go slow, and be patient.
