Hello from Central NY

First, I'd like to say Hello from Central NY. I was referred to this site by someone at my normal hangout, archerytalk.com.
I will be honest, I am not currently a traditional shooter but I have an interest in the traditional realm of archery.
I have an opportunity to get a traditional bow from a friend on trade and would like to know what you know about it including what it's worth as we both have no clue.
The bow is a Troy D. Breeding hand made takedown recurve that is 62" long and is 56# at 28".

56# to start is way too much for most to begin with. Conventional wisdom is to start in the 35 to 40#. Hard to learn good consistant form starting that heavy - remember, no letoff.

Hey Tim, where abouts in central ny are you? I'd be happy to give you a few pointers in traditional archery if you give me a few pointers in reloading!

Thanks to all for a warm welcome. I'm located in Oxford. I began my archery career shooting a Bear Kodiak as a child. Since then I leaned toward the compounds and haven't shot traditionally other than when I teach my archery unit in my Physical Education classes each Fall. Although I teach the unit using Mathews Genesis bows, they have no sights or other accessories on them. So, I teach the students to shoot instinctively.
Larry, I'd be glad to give you some reloading tips. I'm assuming that Two Dogs' tips weren't quite what you were hoping for, lol.
Even though I can't find out much info. about the Troy Breeding bow my buddy has, I think I may trade him for it.

I just was over to the Oxfor rod and gun for there trad only shoot and had a ball. I also do know the West End archery in Oneonta NY its the one near the donuts. I do think unless you are real fit that starting out with a higher weight bow gives you to have more problems as you start shooting to fast and not being able to work on form 45 is a good weight to start with. I started with 60 lb and never have learned to have a good form and lock in that ancor. I still am a snap shooter, when my hand hits my face the arrow is gone. OIf you come over to west end, then give me a call and stop byu, left turn off of rt 28 in Franklin on Swart hollow road and first house on the left....

Troy D. Breeding has a website "Sticks n feathers archery". You should probably ask him about the value of the bow.
