This morning, my two piece selfbow turned into a 5 piece while at full draw. Needless to say, I was bummed out, but when I went in to break the bad news to the wife, she said,"Well, you have been wanting a new bow anyway, why don't you get what you want."     So, it didn't take me long to call Herb Meland, who said I should check with Bob's Archery in Castle Rock. Low and behold, Bob had several Pronghorns in stock, and there is a 62" 56 pounder enroute. When it arrives, I will post pics. I will have to shoot it a bunch in the next few days since antegoat season is in two weeks. It seems only fair to shoot a goat with a Pronghorn..maybe an elk and a deer, too. Now I will be looking for the mail lady in the next few days.
I have wanted a Meland bow for quite a while; I know guys that love them, and I even did some photography for Herb's website some years ago, so it must be fate.   :D

You'll love that Pronghorn. I have one, and it's my "never get rid of" bow.

I took a spill while hiking here the other day. They don't call 'em the Rocky Mountains for nothing! The result was a couple of nice gouges in my bow. Guess a refinish is in order.

Good shooting!

I bought one back in May,but gotta wait till Next year to shoot it.It sucks to have a new bow at the house and not be able to loose a few arrows with it.I am sure you will like it.Good luck this season....Jason

I am also a selfbow guy. However last season when I couldnt shoot my selfbows from the blind I bought (to long) I fell back on my never get rid of bow. A pronghorn of course and yes taking a pronghorn with a pronghorn was a blast.

This year I built two shorter style flat bows, O yes and bought a taller Hidden Hunter blind.

Sorry to hear about your bow Pat.  Glad you are alright.  But I am also glad to hear you got a new bow on the way.  Good luck with her and save a goat or 2 for me!!          :campfire:      :archer:

Sorry to hear that Pat.  Was it that nice selfbow from Ted Fry you had down in Ft. Stockton?
Can't wait to see pic's of your new Pronghorn!

Josh,
It wasn't the Raptor bow. Two exploded selfbows in a few months does make me a bit gunshy, though. Guess I'll stick to laminated bows for a while.

I LOVE my Pronghorn bow, it's my favorite.  And my back-ups are pretty salty too (White Bison and Schafer Silvertip).   :)

Which one did you get centaur? The foam core or the one with ash cores. I think there was a zebra left too with action boo cores. I saw them again at the bowhunters jamboree a couple of weeks ago. you will like it which ever one you bought. I want to get one of those foam cores in a heavy weight.

Never pass up or give a chance for second thoughts when the wife utters permission without thought!

Hate you lost a bow but it is fun to get a new one too?

Randy,
I hope it is here tomorrow. If Uncle Sam's postal service can find my house, I should be ready to rock.  It took them 5 days to get a letter to me from 4 blocks away last week, so I'm not overly optimistic. Pictures will be forthcoming when it gets here.
If you happen to see a post office truck heading north on I25, tell them where Buffalo is.

I have one that has been with me a long time. Herb builds a fine bow. Bob always has a few around ready to ship.
