Can anyone tell me for sure what the 2nd letter in the serial number is? Kinda looks like sideways M? I would also like to know from one of the bear guys what year it was made.   Thanks, Ed (hope pic works, 1st time)

bigbuckmalik

It worked! I hope its the correct size. It said 640

Killdeer

It is a '68. I would guess the second cipher to be a "U".

Or bear gals i should say! Now that you mention it, i can see it as a u. Just got it today. It has a little twist in one limb and a few stress marks. However, for $0.00, i'd say it was a steal.

Killdeer

Uh oh, stolen goods! I will be up there soon to collect the evidence...    :biglaugh:

Being i have nothing into it. Would it be worth sendin it out for a makover. It seems to be in very good shape.

If the rest of the finish looks as good as in the pic, I would polish it up and shoot it. The limbs are not hard to untwist. Just twist the twisted limb in the other direction with your hands a few times till the limb stays straight.

The stress lines don't hurt a thing.

That being said, i'm basing the twist on the fact that i drew it and when i let it down the string was'nt lined up with the groove on the bottom limb. It was barely to one side. Does that indicate a twist or could it be something else?

My '62 KMag does the same thing. It indicates a slight twist but so slight it should not cause a problem.
