Way cool! The sassafras looks a lot like elm. Now...groups?

Thanks fellas.  It's a 58" recurve with a 15" handle.  I like the shorter bow with the longer limbs.  Sort of keeps the smoothness and forgiveness of a longer bow.  It's 57#@28".  The sassafrass is stained and it shoots very quietly and pretty quick, very dead in the hand after the shot. The only bad thing is the bottom limb gave up on me.  I think it had alot to do with the sassafrass.  I've built a slew of longbows with sass. but I think it may be a bit light for a recurve.  I'm gonna open the profile of the limb just a bit before I build the next set of limbs and probably go with red elm or maybe bamboo with bocote veneers.  Thanks again for the kind words.

Thats an EXPERIMENT, holy cow what a nice job...well done!!!!

Get in line Skyler.  :D

It is a fine bow. Love the riser. I would also commend Ethan on how he handled the limb "event". While the rest of us braced ourselves for a total meltdown, he just went right on with the conversation.  The limb materials and design will work out fine with some minor tweeking. Then I'm on the list... ahead of Skyler.  :p

Hey Leon, no it's actually going on one of my longbows.  I've got to do a little re-figuring on the limb design on the recurve.  At this point I'm getting ready for Colorado and deer season here so the bow building will be on hold until after hunting season.  Thanks guys.
