Which blade are you using for carbons?

I use the blade that comes with the "mini" cut off saw.. Quick and easy cuts...

My mini cut off got here a few days ago.  You're cutting carbons with the blade that came with it?

I use a Harbor Freight mini cut off saw,mine came with two blades a friction cut and a metal blade.I use the friction blade and made a jig for repeatable length cuts.On my adjustable stop block I drilled a taper with a chamfer bit.The key to getting a square cut with it is being able to rotate the shaft as you cut.The tapered hole keeps the nock end centered as you rotate the shaft as you cut.This is how the more expensive saws cut.They have a tapered hole and a small portion of the blade exposed,you bring the shaft into the blade and rotate it.With the mini saw I bring the blade just into the arrow and rotate it as I cut.This will give you a squarer cut then just clamping it and cutting straight down through.

Yup I have cut wood, carbon, and aluminum with the blades that come with them.  The blades dont last to long when cutting carbon and aluminum but I can usually do a few dozen arrows before changing the blades.  Some people use cut off wheels for air tools on them as well.  Anything will work with a 3/8" arbor and 2" diameter.

For carbon use the High Speed Friction saw blade.

DO NOT use a saw tooth blade.

How do you guys get 'em square if you use (like I do) a Dremmel and a cut-off wheel?

Guess I've been getting them 'square enough'.

What happens if the cut is a little catawampus?

When cutting alum. arrows how do you than "clean out" the cut portion so the insert fits in cleanly? Thanks

I've got a G5 ASD (Arrow Squaring Device) coming to square the cut end.

On the alum. arrows just use a deburing tool for bullet reloading to clean them out.

Can I expect to only get a few dozen arrows cut out of each blade?

Not to be too dumb but have never seen a deburing tool....where can I get one? Pic?

Deburing tool on a copperv pipe cutter will work or I like to use a round stone that came with my dremmel tool.

The G5 arrow squaring devise  cost a lot for what it does but it works very well. can get from  Three Rivers or about any place that sells archery stuff.

It was nearly five years ago, but mine came with two blades. One is toothed metal, clearly for wood. The other is an abrasive disc which is what I use for aluminum and carbon. Great little rig. The motor is just now starting to go. But it has cut more dozens than I can remember, not to mention some brass inserts and antlers. As few arrows as I make these days it should be good for a couple more years.

Larry, Just saw your post. Havent even gotten the saw yet. Maybe I don't even know what I don't know yet. Any hints on the right blade to use?

I got this as a "tip of the week" from TBM some time ago and just got around to ordering.

Here is a picture of my saw I get cut off wheels from work after they are worn down. firts time trying to post a picture so I hope this works.
