I've been trying to find info on "how to modify a grizzly el grande." The best "idea" I could come up with is to:
1: Scribe a reference line.
2: Clamp the 190 in a vise with wood blocks.
3: Use a long file and grind away til' the line.
4: Resharpen at 25deg.
Bingo 170-180g 1" wide at rear, tip stays wide as original.
Is there something I'm not getting or is this good? I own a dremel tool but I don't think that way would be as accurate.
Any help/tips as to the proper way to modify these heads and I will be gratefull.
Thanks

Second Ray's advice. Takes a minute or two.

I think i fyou hold out a bit longer they have some new stuff coming out. If you haven't bought them already, if you have nothing wrong with them.

There was a really good thread not too long ago about the rasp?? maybe do a search. Not jumped a 190 yet, gonna try the 160s first! LOL

Get the Nicholson Curved Tooth File, they run around $50 bucks.  If no one posts the part number, I'll get it from out of the shop tomorrow and post it for you.  Another good file is the one Sharpster found during his search.  I have one but it doesn't have a part number so you'd need to ask him.

KME was selling the auto body rasp Ray is talking about. I have seen one and it is very good quality.

Just have Ron at KME modify those El Grande heads for ya. He did mine and wow are they sharp!

I get mine going with a bench grinder to start.  "go slow not to overheat"

I've tried a corse Nicholson from home depot that I had on hand, no luck, it didn't do anything.
Is it the curved teeth on the ones you've describe what makes them bite in? or am I simply "not using enough pressure?"
