I haven't shot my bow in about 3 weeks.  Was tinkering around in the back yard and POW.  Arrow was laying about 15 feet in front of me...nock was busted.

Figured it was just a bad nock.  Then, it happened AGAIN about 3 days later!  The first time it happened my bow jumped out of my hands and landed in the grass.  The second time it happend I was praciting from a chair (like out of a blind) sitting on my concrete patio.  Bow jumped out of my hands again and is now scratched up...grrrr!  I got some uni-bushings on order.  Is this a common occurrance with swaged/tapererd nocks or do I just have a bad batch?

Not common at all.  Are you refering to glue on nocks? What type of arrows and how old are they?

i don't believe they glue on. they're tapered at the nock end, then the nock slips over the tapered end.  maybe you're supposed to glue them on, but they don't come off; seems like they're held in by friction.  they came with some gamegetter 2016's. not sure how old they are.  they came from a non-trad shop, so they might of been sitting around for a while.

if there is a tapered end on the arrow and the nock slips over the tapered end of the arrow you are supposed to glue them on.

Your nocks opening is to small for your string.After a few shots it cracks the nock and it only takes a few shots to finish spliting it.I had this problem.

Yup!

glue them on and get a doz of 11/32 size nocks.

I gave up swage nocks.An all around pain in the rear.

Cut the swages off,glue in uni bushings and use supernocks.No more problems.They fit the string better too.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a swaged nock?

Aluminum arrows with a metal cone(Swage) on the back.You glue the nock over the cone.Much like gluing the nock over a POC shaft.

The nocks are not swaged, the arrows are.  If the nocks are not glued on they will come off.  Thye are not held on by friction. The 2016's will take a 5/16" nock.

yes i solved that problem i use a special expoy and allumimum nocks

Hold The Phone! 2016 shafts should have their nocks glued on. YES. Simple... Right? Maybe...

* Sometimes if you have a shaft that has been dipped with paint you WILL NEED to file down the tip that goes into the nock. That bit of extra paint will hold the nock away from your shaft and when shot it will come off.

* You need to press the nock down when gluing it on and displace any bit of air inside to ensure a good seal.

* Fletch Tite is best because it dries flexable. Spin the nock as you set it to spread glue evenly.

this is exactly what i have planned to do.  i did this when trying out some other shafts.  but my local guy is having a hard time getting the uni-bushings.  he's tried to order 3 times now and his supplier is out of stock.  guess i'll try looking on-line.  i'be ordered from 3 rivers before and i'll check and see if they keep stuff like this anyone know of any other places?

and just so it's clear, and i don't look like a complete idiot, none of my nocks have been glued in place.  oddly enough, none of them have come off.  even the two that broke were still intact with the shaft, however, it was the "ear" of the nock that had split/busted.

Back when I first started flinging arrows (early 80's) they were all that way.  I remember fletching the arrows with the nocks loose and then glued them on after I got the vanes oriented correctly for the rest I was shooting.  Granted this was in my compound days...but the uni-bushing are much nicer.

If you look around and talk to some people you might find a tool that was used to clean/prep the swaged part.  You might still be able to find a new one in a bow shop that has old stock.

90% of my non trad stuff I get from Keystone country store.Awesome service.  

I find the swaged nocks quieter for some reason.

As previously mentioned, the arrows are swaged and the nocks are glued on. Have been that way since the inception of plastic nocks and aluminum arrows until a short time back when uni-bushings appeared on the scene.
