My wife and I got to Alaska at 11:30 a.m. Alaska time on Friday. After waiting for our rental motor home to be serviced and ready, exploring downtown
Anchorage (think of any city except with mountains in the background), buying the wife an Ulu knife, doing the paperwork on the camper, and finding a campground in town (more shopping with the boss on Sat.), we were finally able to hook up with Bill and his wife at their home in Anchorage.

This was nothing short of what I would have expected from a fellow Tradgang member. In fact, it was way beyond what I could have hoped. We spent over two hours there. My wife was not so thrilled with the idea until she found out that Bill's wife is a quilter too. Wow! Did they hit it off!

So, while the bosses were talking quilts, Bill and I slipped out to the back yard and launched some arrows. I guess I should say, I did. Bill just kept handing me one sweet bow after another along with hands full of arrows. Is this heaven? No it's Alaska! I shot Widows (first time for me), an Assenheimer (another first, but one sweet little bow), and Bill's custom longbow. I had a great time! Before I left, Bill insisted I take the longbow, a bunch of arrows, and a quiver along, so I could stump shoot my way around Alaska. What an awesome guy. He even sent along some caribou sausage for the trip!

We have WI-FI at the camp here, and I brought the laptop. I'll post updates whenever we hit a spot where we can connect. No pictures yet, but I'll post some of those too when I get a chance.

So far, Alaska is great. I can't wait to get out of the city and see the real Alaska though!

Hey Russ, when you get to, or close to, Homer, give a shout. I've got a walk around course you can shoot (very humble for us po fok) there are some quilters in my extended family, I can point out a few palces of interest to go/see/do, and if you are real nice and the weather is too, maybe you could talk your way into an airplane ride (in my plane) over  the glaciers and around the bay.

See ya soon?
