It's hot out there and I sweat like a boar. Is there anything I should do to my glove to extend it's life? I have tied different variations of beeswax/pine pitch/etc. and they just start to get nasty after a while. Also, when do you switch out gloves?(when do you consider it to be shot out?)

Many thanks.

I occasionally wash my Damascus glove in mild soap and warm water. I roll it up in paper towels to remove the excess water and put it on my hand to form it then remove it and let it dry for a day or so. Then I use Montana Pitch Blend and hand rub it in good.
the salts and acids from your hand will rot the leather.

I picked up some saddle soap from Bass Pro in the footwear section and have been using it on my glove.  Slicks up the fingertips pretty nice, and has no smell at all that I can perceive.  I dont know if it does anything for extending the life of the glove or not, but it makes it sweet to shoot with.

You know, I never really thought to clean my old glove with saddle soap. I use it on my boots and baseball mit, so why not.... You should also be able to find saddle soap at Walmart in the shoe dept.

I try not to leave it on the trail overnight at 8,500 feet elevations in the fall.  Notice,  I said TRY.

I was wondering this as well yesterday.  I figure I'll shoot the current glove thru the heat of summer and switch to a new one near the beginning of season...

I use Montana Pitch Blend too. Rub a good heavy coat on then heat it up with a blow dryer. Glove really soaks it up when warmed. Definately extends the life of your golve.
