I was talking to Steve about the mule deer shot out of the ground blind the other day and he said it was real close, although he didn't tell me a specific yardage. He did say it was "almost" like the arrow wouldn't clear the bow before it struck the deer. I got the impression the deer was 3-5 yards away when he shot.

CCH, I sent the review to several magazines, but I know of two that will not be printing it.

Traditional Bowhunter Magazine sent me a note saying they have a policy against printing video reviews.

Dr. Dave Samuels had already submitted a review to Bowhunter Magazine before I submitted mine. His review is in the current issue of Bowhunter that is now on the stands.

It is interesting that Bowhunter Magazine will print a review of a traditional archery video, but Traditional Bowhunter Magazine will not. Seems like a short-sighted policy on TBM's part.

Rik, I just saw your review in the TradArchers World. They gave you a  full page. Thank you.

I don't understand why TBM won't review a video and they don't have a problem reviewing books. I just looked at an issue for Dec/Jan and there is a review on Dead On Traditional DVD. I guess they must have just changed there policy?

Thanks again,
Chris.

I got to watch it yesterday, and really liked it. The shots made on animals were nice, with the mulie in the cattails footage being a jaw-dropper. I've been fortunate enough to shoot with Steve a few times, and he IS that good with a bow and arrow. I first shot with him in the early-eighties, and the first thing I noticed was the rock-solid bow arm. Anyway, I'd recommend this DVD to all.

I ordered this video online and 2 days later it was in my mailbox in Phoenix. Wow quick delivery for sure. What a great video. Definitly the best one I've seen to date. I highly recommend this one for sure. I've watched it 3 times in 3 days. LOL

Like it has been said this is the best DVD on the market and after getting to talk to Steve this weekend at Packwood WA and seeing his slide show and listening to his stories I am even more impressed. If you don't own it you are missing out!!!!!

G Schollmeier

If you missed the TBW rendezvous at Packwood, WA then you missed Steve Gorr's  slides and stories. If you ever get a chance to see him at another show don't miss it. As far as traditional archery goes Steve has almost done it all. He can improve your hunting and shooting and be darn entertaining all at the same time. His DVD "Bowhunting Reflections", which is great, shows you his style but only hints at the stories this guy can tell. A great archer and maybe even better story teller.

Just watched it last night....Great video...nice camera shots of shot placement.

Wanted to see Angelo hammer at the end, but they cut his footage short!!!

The video came just in time as I'm headed to Cohutta Saturday.....  :campfire:

This *is* most definitely a quality DVD and would be great for Bowhunter Education!

The variety of shooting situations, combined with game recovery, and followed up with detailed descriptions of shot/arrow placement and organ destruction is EXCELLENT!

I highly recommend it!

Steve is getting really excited about all of the good reviews. He just bought a second camera and is starting to do more guest speaker talks showing his slides from the good old days. If you get a chance to hear him speak you won't regret it. You will hear stories of him hunting with Paul Schafer and such very entertaining.

Day Dreamer

I picked up a copy at the Denton Hill Trad show, due to reviews on this site, down to earth vid. This video is at my top 3 of all time, was told by Steve and Angelo (bison gear guy) that there will be another vid, Steve wants the next one to be better than the first.

Ceb

Ordered my copy on Tuesday this week, can't wait to see it.

Steve was the guest speaker at the recent Traditional Bowhunters of WA rendezvous and gave the big crowd quite a show with his collection of vintage slides and tales from the past.

His exploits as a champion competitive archer were nicely documented, including such feats as his putting 6 arrows into the gold from 60 yards.

Steve's early hunting adventures with folks like Paul Schafer, Marv Clyncke, Fred Anderson and others were presented in a very entertaining style with classic photos. (My favorite story was about hunting partner Paul Schafer tackling a wounded Mountain Goat.)    :biglaugh:

Everyone should get a copy of "Bowhunting Reflections" and enjoy 90 minutes of great traditional bowhunting entertainment.
