Have a 3pcs long bow that is very noisy.Bow tuned nice and I had great arrow flight with both wood and Alum. shafts.  I changed string from ff to b-50 and the bow quieted down but I cant get good arrow flight. The b5o string was 2" to long(flemish) so I twisted it tight to fit. Would that cause the bow to have bad arrow flight?? Why?      Jim

Bow might have been tuned better to the FF, put B50 on a bow and its going to slow down a few fps causing a arrow to stiff. You could have tight nock fit on the B50 string.

I put my nocks in hot water and fit them to the string they fall off with a light tap to back of string. I have several bows that I use the same arrow with either ff or b-50 has never effected flight before. But they were the proper lenght string.Could it be the added weight of the extra 2'of string slowing it down and causing the bad arrow flight?

when you take the string off the bow if it wants to kink itself then there is too much twist in it.

changing a big variable like string material is bound to change things.

Jim, yes that is to much twist, the string will act as a spring. Get a proper length for the bow, you'll see a big difference! Good shootin, Steve

I've talked to at least one (very good) archer who fine-tunes with the number of strands in his string, depending on variables like altitude.  Changing materials will change things--how much depends on your perception, how well your bow is tuned, how forgiving your bow is, how close the arrow spine is, etc.  Twisting up an extra 2" will also change things.

Going to a skinny D97 string can quiet the bow as well and may get you back to good flight...or it could go the other way and your arrows will be weak. Every time you change a variable, be prepared to retune.

Thanks every one. I now have a proper length string on the bow and everything is back to normal.Sure is amazing 2 strings same material same length and one makes the bow 10 times louder then the other
