i just posted about the G5 small game head being to light for me. 125gr is the heaviest i know of.as i finished posting a light bulb came on (moderators- insert lightbulb graemlin here     )does any one make a bushing that screws into the arrow as any normal point does but is threaded to recieve another screw in point? the bushing could be made at various weights to allow lots of combos.
this way people like me who shoot heads in the 250gr range can use points that weight 125gr, like the G5 with say a 125gr bushing for a 250gr head.
you could also use them to make ultra EFOC arrows with whatever head you normally use.imagine......250gr head + 125gr bushing + 100gr brass insert. oh yeah!!

lots of applications! if they were made in a weight range of say 50gr to 125gr or more it would open up a whole lot of front loading options.  

what do you think?

i know it is another weak point in the system but i think it would work fine on game that most people hunt. we don't all hunt buffulo all of the time.  

I smell what yer' steppin in Ozy. Not for use in every situation, BUT, it seems like it could have its perks. Better get a patent on it while you can!

I originally thought that was what the 100gr or whatever insert folks were using till I looked at ordering them!  

I bet that may be a great way to make a fieldpoint fly and spine just like a broadhead because you could take that standard fieldpoint and extend it to the same length of the broadhead, so FOC should be identical from broadhead to fieldpoint.

I have a good buddy whose brother is a patent attorney.  Straight from his brother's mouf, screw the patent, those things are so direct and exact someone could produce the same thing with a slight difference and it be legal.  Unless of course you are going to re-invent some semiconductor material, then you pay the ten million to take out 200 patents to CYA.

I'll buy some, blued steel in 50, 75, 100, and 125grs!

I have some that I got from keystone archery (?) that are 25 grains each.  I tried them while stump shooting, but two of them broke off in the shaft insert.  They probably got slightly lose, which led to the problem.  I could have glued them in, but that kinda defeats the purpose for me.

you could glue the point and the bushing together making it 'one' point.

yup they make them out of aluminum to fit 5/16" and 11/32" shafts, they are 25 grains. i guess a guy could make them out of steel or brass to get heaver weights.

Their great if you have a few arrows that are a little stiff. they will add 25 grains and 1/2" to the shaft.

p.s. As far as the G5 being a little light, have you tried the hammer head from 3rivers. They come in 100,125,145,175,200 and 250 grains.

All you need are some brass inserts 50grn or 100grn, and Gold Tips wt adapters.  They come in 20grn and 50grn.  Plus they are stackable.  You want 200 grns up front minus the point?  Just use 100 grn insert and 2 50grn wt adapters.  I made up some AD Hammerheads with a total point end wt of 470 grns. which are heading for Africa in July.

I had a variety of weights from another TG'er for tuning purposes.  A guy took field points, cut off the tip, drilled and tapped it, then fiddled with it some to get the correct weights.  Very useful.

badger- but if you use weights on the back of the insert you can only use that arrow for the lighter head. if i want to put 250gr b/head on it'll be to heavy. if i had a bushing i would permanantly glue it to the point making it one unit of 250gr. that would be more convienient for me. i'll do wtpops idea...get some 250gr hammer blunts
