Blitz fletcher.

I am having problems with my blitzburger fletcher. It seems that the back of the feathers aren't sticking flush with my arrows. It seems that both the front and back of the feathe will stick, i am using fletching tape. Do u know if this is common, when i glue the side of the arrow it sticks. I dont have problems with the feathers comming off. But the feather isn't square.

Using tape with any magnetic fletch clamp is problematic at times. You have to get it on the magnet before you touch the shaft with the tape, or you will have misaligned fletch. Try getting the feather into the clamp flush with the edges.
Ease it onto the shaft until you see the alignment is correct. If you get it started correctly, you can simply press it with your fingers to get full contact from the tape. It's a pain in the keister, that's why I use glue most of the time...you can move the feather once contact is made.

I use George's advice about getting the clamp on the magnet before touching the shaft with the feather.

One other thing I do that has made a big difference is I don't push the feather all the way into the clamp, but leave it out 1/8 of an inch from the clamp. After they are all on, I seat the quill to the shaft with my thumbnail.

That jig has been very frustrating for me over the years but is the most versatile and accurate fletcher I have ever used. Most of my feathers are put on with helical twists to varying degrees and I find the secret is dry runs to get the fit perfect with a feather in place before putting the glue on. A light source behind the clamp will show through if the fit is not exact. When satisfied, on goes the glue or the tape, bring the readied unit on to the shaft carefully and away you go. Good luck.

There is a new fletcher on the market--Kustom King sells them--cheaper than a Bitz and touted as easier to get a perfect contact. I think it's called a Bearpaw or something like that? Anybody tried them out?

portugeejn, makes a good point about the 1/8 inch. I do that for glue. Never used tape. I love the smell of fletch-tite in the morning

Yeah Van, when you move as slow as I do, the tape tends to stick to whatever, instead of the arrow. And I agree....Fletchtite smells like old archery shops. I like it.

Guys here is a trick. Take a file and smooth out the clamp. File it flat is what I am trying to say. It does not take much to true it up.Yeah I know. Lamont Granger from the Footed Shaft told me about this years ago when I was having a few contact issues. Lamont even trades you a finished ground clamp for your clamp if you want. Tip of the day. 1 more tip run your fingernail between the quill and the clamp like above leaving a small 1/8 difference so you can get the clamp to seat really well. Just make sure after you run your fingernail through that it has not moved from your mark so the distance from the nock will be the same. Flint
