Just bought some of these in the 500 size with 100 grain brass inserts installed. I was just wondering how many of you use them and what do ya think about'em? How do ya like the small (9/32") diameter? I wonder how they will fit the arrow gripper on my Kanati Pro bow quiver? I'm using 2016s in the quiver now and they fit pretty snug.

I love them, the only thing I dont care for is the lack of small diameter field points. They can pull out of a bag target hard at times with the fatter field points.

Agree on the field points.  I shoot the ones that are tapered on the back end but they still snag when you pull them out.

I have taken 2 big game animals with theses shafts, I love the small diameter and how it aids penetration. You are making a great move using the 100 gr inserts for FOC. I can get 9/32 field points from Trad Tech (Lancaster Archery) and i have 55 gr sizes progressing to 125 then I use 5/16" for 145gr and larger. My only c/o about the non black carbon shafts is they tend to be hard to remove from the newer,less shot up 3d targets. Shoot straight.

I think I may have some small diameter F.P.'s from when I used to shoot Easton ACC and ACE arrows from yesteryear. They should do just fine.

I'm excited about these arrows as I have never shot carbons out of trad gear before.

They make easy-pull points for Axis/MFX in 100,125 and 145 gr. points.They taper down to the small diameter and they pull easy from targets.They sell tem at 3Rivers and KK,EP18-125 and EP18-145 are the numbers.3Rivers also have them in 100 gr.

I havent shot em much, but the few I shot I was impressed with. I would buy a dozen in a second.

I shoot em and really enjoy them. I rarely target shoot with them, but I use them mostly for hunting. I'm not sure yet how I feel about the HIT setup they require...anybody ever use the regular type inserts with em?

You can get the broad head adapters for them from 3Rivers. they are a tapered plastic ring that goes between the tip and the shaft.

What do you mean by regular type inserts? They are called HIT(Hidden Insert Technolgy) inserts because they fit down inside the shaft.They come in the standard aluminum and 100 gr. brass and the new 50-75 gr. brass inserts.

Years ago, when Bemans came from France they came with "outserts" rather than inserts.  The outserts added 7/8" to your shaft length, and it was my opinion that they were stronger than the newer inserts.  The outserts were avaible for awhile after Easton bought out Beman.  The other advantage of the outsert was that it matched up with a 5/16 dia. field point.  Now one would think that if Easton was going to come up with a different way to put a poiont on a shaft they would come up with a matching point?
As for your first question, Beman makes one of the very best shafts avaible, you will be hard pressed to do better!

I have just recently started shooting Easton Axis 500s. I love them. I did foot the first two inches and the back 1/2 inch to make the stronger. The fly great out of my bow.

Plus footing them with a 1916 arrow makes finding field tips for them  much easier.

I haven't seen regular type inserts for them theres no room for them,I've seen just the standard aluminum,brass and brass broadhead adapters for the skinny shafts.Points and broadhead center inside the shaft just like they center inside the front of regular inserts on larger diameter shafts.The HIT inserts were designed to give more accurate broadhead alignment.They were originally designed for the high speeds you get with wheel bows but we Trad guys shoot them too.I have one dozen I have footed with a piece of a 2018 and then 5/16" will fit alittle more flush plus that increases the strength of the shaft.

How much do those weigh after you footed em?   I'm shooting 500's with Ribtek 160's and a 75gr insert up front.  Total of 570gr.  Looking for heavier for my bows over 50lbs.

I shoot the same arrows with a aluminum insert a piece of all thread between with a 100 gr brass screwed to the alum, one and a 125 gr brass tapered insert out front. this gives nice foc and more weight. I love them :0)

I only footed with 1" or 1.5" 2018 or 2020,it only adds 12-14 grs. of weight to the front end.Most of the Axis/MFX I footed were used ones I've bought and they just had the aluminum inserts aready installed.Axis/MFX are tough shafts,but I feel the weakest point is the open end of the shaft.And usally 200 and 250 points are longer and can put alot of leverage on the open end on a glancing blow off a hard object.For stumping arrows I'll add a 1/2 piece on the knock end,sometimes they will crack at the nock end.With both ends footed it makes a very tough arrow.Carbon Express has what they call Bulldog collars for the nock end for their Maxima line.It just takes a scrap 2018 or 2020(I use on 500's) to make enough footings for a dozen arrows.For my 70#@27 21st Century I shoot Beman Black Max 300 footed with 1.5" 2016,100 gr. brass insert and 175 gr.point,total weight around 675 grs.I like to foot them if I plan on shooting heavy points on a small diameter shaft.

With a 30 in draw can you get by shooting 500's with the standard inserts??

Dan, I shoot the 500 in both Axis and the MFX classic, 300 gr. points 27" I draw 26" and I'm on the border of 400. At 30" it will depend on your point weight. I'm pretty sure a 500 will not work for you.
