Here are a few photos of my first spring bear hunt. This is my first traditional big game kill since I put down the compound last november.I have killed with trad gear but it hasn't been 1992 , I killed a nice doe.But I have been missing the simpler way. This was not to brag about a bear kill but to say thanx. The advice and insperation that people "tradgang"  have given me

Looking forward to it. Too bad that you can't edit these days.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

What a cool looking "blackie."

KentuckyTJ

Very cool harvest. I've never hunted any predator that could in turn take my life if it so intended. I can only imagine the rush.

The fulfillment of your hunt is determined by the amount of effort you put into it  >>>---->

I hoped pics would turn out a little better this time. But for now far a the story, thats a long one but I keep it short. This was a utah diy hunt on public ground. After years of not drawing a tag this was my year to be lucky, but not the best year time wise. Never hunting bear before I had to learn the in's and out's quick. And switching to trad gear added to the game.I hunted mainly spot and stalk and baiting.I soon learned that baiting 3 1/2 hours away from home is a hard thing to do when you work 60 + hrs week.I never did see any bear out side the bait station. But I had three bear come into the bait. All were a cinnamon to chocolate in color phase. All looked like boars and one that was real big.Which I did miss, yes i did miss!that hurts, I even put on the trainning wheels the next night"luckly nothing came in".Idid come to  my senses,Thanx to reading trad gang and remembering my true inspiration hunting not killing. The recurve came back into play.On my second to last night that I could hunt the bear they came in the middle of the day cleaned the bait out all but a handfull.Which made me not so sure one how my luck might be.Luckly the two bear came in,"playing bear games " like my dogs over food .They milled around for about 20 min or so before getting shoot oppertunity.A perfect 3/4 away shoot maybe 20 yards complete pass through.

Very nice and good shooting.
