Is there any benefit to using one or the other? I use 5" shield cut feathers now and they work well with filed points. Do parabolic cut feathers fly better with broadheads?  Are they quieter?

I've switched back and forth for many years and have never seen(or heard) a bit of difference.....

I use an Orca cut which is between a shield cut and a parabolic cut

some say that the shield make more noise, personally i don't think mine make any noise and they look SWEET!

i have used both and hey no difference. i think it is just what you want to use if it works use it. if it dont well hey cut em off and start again.  

I have notice a little noise from sheild cut vs the parabolics. People standing next to me say they can hear the sheilds also. No differnce in how they fly if the arrow is tuned right.

Personal preference only.  Try some of both and enjoy!

I think that the parabolic cut is a little quieter, I like 4" parabolic because I can chop two out of a full length feather.

I've gone back and forth too for years. Right now I'm going back to shield.

No discernable difference in flight, noise or stabilising effect, as far as I can tell

I have HB Shields on the arrows that my Snuffers are mounted on and there isn't any noise. I also use 5" parabolics on all my other arrows. Over the years, I have personally never seen a difference between 5" shield or 5" parabolic in terms of arrow flight.

I can't tell any difference between the two in flight or noise.

Go with what you think looks cool. I don't think there is really any difference. Right now I am using 4" shield cut because they look cool, make no noise, and are plenty to stabilize my arrows. Longer feathers will stabilize quicker at the cost of a bit of speed. If your arrows are well tuned to your bow, you don't really need more feather. I like 5" or 5.5" with woodies because there will always be some variation of weight and spine with them, so more feather tends to straighten things out more quickly. Carbon or aluminum arrows really don't need much for feathers if they are tuned to the bow.

That was kind of a long-winded way of saying it doesn't really make a bit of difference.   :D

The Biggest Difference is PRICE... Why, I have No Idea... I shoot both, I like the looks of shield But they do make more noise in flight if they are Higher profile.

I have shot them all and I know a lot of guys will say they are no different noise whys but after years of standing down by a target and having my dad shoot arrows down range and listening to them the shields make more noise hands down.  Now the question is who is going to be the first one that disagrees with me? :D

IronCreek, I won't disagree that shields (especially high cut ones) can be noisier. I just don't think it matters much to the critters. I've seen deer jump at string noise (or drop actually), but they will sometimes just freeze and look around when an arrow is buzzing their way.

Anyway, I can't blame feather noise for any of the deer I haven't shot        

I've shot both shield and parabolic and I prefer parabolic.
