My dad and i went out to scout our hunting property and check the bear stands.  the 2 piles of droppings were about 10 yds away from the base of JD's bear stand.  the shirt you see is JD's Asbel wool shirt that he lost last yr tracking his bear.  i was on a mission last yr to find that shirt, shoot a deer while wearing it, send JD a pic and then mail the shirt back to him. i searched several times but couldnt find the shirt. well, today  i was on a mission to find a big balsam tree for a new bear stand.  we found the tree last yr about 1/2 mile from where JD hit his bear.  the tree is on the north end of a huge black spruce swamp that his bear went through.  well, i found the tree today, and JD's shirt was lying at the base of the tree....talk about karma.  the new stand will be named "good karma" and if josh makes it up bear hunting thats where i am putting him

I'm honored to get an opportunity at hunting bears and meeting great people...scat is a good sign from what I've heard, yet I hope I don't step in a steaming pile of that.

I need some "Good Karma" for sure...going to start practicing every night again as I did the last two years.  I going to bringing the bow upstairs tonight so I have to see it when I get home and keep it close by.  I'm even going to screw the recurve limbs on it and shoot them...JD you can pick yourself off the ground.  :rolleyes:

Pete...thanks again for the invite, hopefully I'll have enough vacation time left after this month with my work cutting us to 28 hr weeks, taking 12 hrs of vacation a week adds up quickly.  The last 8 weeks at 32 have been tough but I'm glad I get 3 weeks a year and had some left from last year.  I'm just fortunate to have a job!

I love going to new areas and seeing new things so I can't wait.

Thanks again,

Josh

Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

I hadn't noticed 'till you said that! Imagine if the bear had spelled something out... HA!
