Please help me choose between these two long bows
Dwyer Dauntles or great northern bushbow or great northern critter gitter.  NO more other bowyer suggestions please, i got a huge head ache for all the research.
Any helpful input will be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Heads or tails???....
You've narrowed it down to some fine bows.
You'll be happy with any of the 3.

Tough choice, for me bows are a personal choice. The grips are a personal choice,Dwyer's have more of a locator grip and the GN's have more of a straight grip or their index grip really feels great. All you listed above a solid well made bows.It would be nice if you could shoot them both.Wish I could be more help but I think the final choice is yours.

Curveman

All great bows. I'd go with either of the GN's over the Dwyer Dauntless solely because I need to have that type of grip and "D" shape to truly have that "longbow feeling" that I seem to crave. No logic at all to it as it really is just a sense and the recurve grip "longbows" are easier to shoot which makes it a better choice from a srictly logical viewpoint. I do like hybrids also so this is not a slam. To each his own.

DWYER DWYER DWYER DWYER!!!!  Of course I may be a bit biased.  I had as fine a looking dauntless as there has ever been.  I should of never sold it.  Oh well, my Longbow and Defiant are still super shooters!!

They are quiet, forgiving and I really like their handles.  They are so intuitive. Just pick a spot ... look for blood.

Great bows, those Dwyers!

yes, i prefer the locator grips, but as you said, great northern does make a locator grip type handle as well.
in terms of price, the dwyer is cheaper...but since i've never seen one up close i can't make up my mind....i have tried to call great northern several times and always get their answering machine.  the two times if called dwyer they have picked up the phone...
can someone toss a coin for me please?

I can only say that I really like my " Bush Bow". And if you ever send it back for any reason the customer service is fantastic. Quality is as good as it gets!!!!!

Tell me about the Dwyer tips.  I love the looks of these bows.  I always shiver when I look at the tips, however.  I know it isn't the case, but that pointy tip looks like it may be delicate.  I'm sure it isn't, but what do you all think?  Thanks...Mike

I love my Dwyer Dauntless and dont worry about the tips they are not delicate. My bow is really fast and no hand shock at all. You will love it i promise.

I've had several Critter Gitters over the years, and a few Dwyers.  Very difficult decision.  The Dwyer index grip is more indexed than the GN, and the Dwyer Dauntless is more of a hybrid with greater deflex/reflex than the GN.  Both are extremely smooth, solid bows.  In a short bow, say 60-62 inches, I'd go with the Dwyer as opposed to the CG.  It's a toss up at 64 inches.  This is for a 28-inch draw.  Bamboo laminations add to the performance of either bow, and that's what my most recent version have.  I know GN charges extra for bamboo.  I don't think Dwyer does.

Both are excellent bows.  Good luck.

BTW, I have a Critter Gitter Special listed for sale.  It's in as new condition.  If the specs work for you, it's a few hundred dollars off the new price.

Having owned an original Dwyer longbow and haveing seen and shot both makers bows I'd go with a Dwyer.  I'm looking at new longbow, 60 to 62 inches, this summer maybe.  I'll be looking at Dwyers and a few others but not GN.

The first time I ever picked up a great northern I felt like I was shaking an old friend's hand.  I'm shooting the fireball right now, but my next toy will be a bushbow with a straight grip.

Nate Fikkert

I would have to go with the Dwyer.  The Dauntless is a great bow.  I wouldn't worry about the tips I have had mine up and down mountains all over the west and they have taken some abuse with no problems.  You really won't find better people to work with either.

Great Northern with the jacknife feature- doesn't get any better you could put it in your back pocket if you wanted.

This is a great hybrid longbow! Yew veneers and I think bamboo core.

Great Northern, no question.

No disrespect to Dwyer lovers though.

Steelhead

Never had a Dauntless.Had the Defiant and original longbow.Very nice and love the tips.

Had a bushbow and Critter gitter.Great shooters.Uncluttered appearance thats very classy in my opinion.very quiet bows and stable shooting for me.

The GN fireball is gonna be more like the Dauntless in design. The Defiant is more like the Bushbow with its wide limb and mild R and D design.I liked my Defiant and my Bushbow.

The Critter gitter is probably my personal favorite.I like mild R and D bows with a  narrow limb, deep core and with a classic D shape when strung. The Critter Gitter is a good one in this style of bow.

BRITTMAN

tater john that is one fine looking bow !
