Hi, I'm getting a new Bob Lee 3 pc. longbow. It should be in the mail right now. I'm looking to buy new arrows for this bow and have my eye on the Arrow Dynamics Traditional arrows. I have a short draw of 26". The bow should draw about 48# there. I want to have about a 28" arrow, and want around 200 grains up front. Any suggestions which size shaft I should go with.....Thanks....Tony

I've used 1916's with 175 up front. Flew well for me. But I'm far from being an expert.

Gold tip 3555 and 50 gr brass insert 250 tip .

BW, go with the Traditional Lites...you will get a higher FOC% than you will with the regular Trads, and they'll work great @ 48#  

Tony, my longbow is 46# @ 26". My arrows are cut to 27 1/2". Up front I use a 50 grain brass insert, with a 125 grain broadhead mounted on a 75 grain adapter. Total weight up front is 250 grains. I use Gold Tip XT Hunters in 35/55. My total arrow weight ends up around 465 Grains, give or take.

I second the idea of Trad Lites for what you are planning...

My new setup is GT 400 ulta lights with 300 grains up front.I have to cut them to 29" at my 26" draw to get proper fight, and they weight 590 grains. I'm shooting 46# @ 26". If I hit my target its mine. The more upfront you get the better you results will be... I went to the lighter arrow to keep my upfront as heavy as I could.

I shoot a Thunderstick Mag,48#@26".I shoot GT 35/55 cut at 27" with 350 up front.

29 1/2 Axis 500 with 100 gr brass insert 125 gr broadhead on a 43 broadhead adepter.

I'm sure my method isn't as precise as the people before me, but I ordered some of those huge SCA fantasy combat arrows, and sharpened it with a grinding wheel. I think mine is like 450grains. Im shooting it with a #45 '66 Bear Tigercat. Within the 20-30 yard range of my bow it is incredible. The whole point of an arrow is to deliver the sharp point to the target, with the rest just stabalizing the flight of the broadhead. I heavier broadhea with a lighter shaft seems to be ideal for me.

I use 360 up front on my Ad's Traditionals (260 field point, and 100 gr brass insert, total arrow weight 715 gr)...They really fly well out of my bows....but they seem really to drop off after 20-25 yards. I guess thats what I get for shooting a heavier arrow. I was shoot a indoor 3d coarse that is set up for the compound guys, and the closest shot was 22-23 yards, and the furthest was around 48...It really wasnt realastic as I wanted and thats when I noticed them really "dropping off" after 20 -25 yards.

No biggie, I shoot only 20 yards and closer anyways.
