I tried to avoid getting "Snakebit"....but it happened. A beautiful creation is in the works. There will be a little twist in this one...and it isn't the limbs! lol  Pics to follow for those who love the blending of fine craftsmanship and functionality in a bow.

Snakewood and leopard wood are two of the most beautiful species I can think of. Of course, bout any snakeskin would look good on a bow.

Close?

Don't want to cover up the veneer with snakes...because there will already be snakes among the leopards!

I missed the "Snakebit".  But I know both Norm and Dale build some gorgeous bows using Snakewood.

Danny,

I guess I was making an assumption that snag goes through various models of bows like you, Donald and I, and a few others I could name, do rather frequently!    ;)    :)

Danny knows me...I have an ongoing love affair with those Blacktails. Just talked with Norm on the phone. We have come to a little change in the order...no more leopards...going with lacewood! How's that?  Snakes and Lace!  For those of you who think bowyers charge a lot of their bows, this one log of snakewood was $1000. Now I don't know how many risers and limb veneers he will be able to get out of it. But that is definitely a big expense to factor into a product. He was very impressed with the quality and consistancy of the pattern in this log...oh boy!

This is a TD with the wood combos I have ordered except for one difference. I wanted a softer contrast than the ebony would give. So, I went with wenge for the footing. Oh, and mine will be a one-piece. I have been wanting a one-piece of Norm's and you very seldom see used ones. So, that is what prompted me to ordering a new one. No more lurking around the Classifieds....well maybe just a peak now and then...   :biglaugh:   Norm said the riser is "cooking" right now. He is making up the limb veneers. Oh boy!

I sure hope he's making it in MY weight!

I just don't see how he can line up those limb veneers and inlays the way he does!

JC

Great choice Snag; I think norm's one piece has some of the sexiest lines of any bow available. He is absolutely the premier woodworker of bowyers...no one glues wood together like he does.

No agrument here JC. Interesting story of his. He used to work in the logging industry before the spotted owl thing. Now he is still working with wood!
