Howdy All-
Interested in any experiences folks have with the Great Plains Kiowa. I recently bought one used, 60" and 50@28. It came without string and have ordered one from Great Plains. While I'm waiting, was wondering if anyone could share their experiences with the bow, set up, brace height etc.

I'm trying to get a good friend interested in traditional archery and will likely pass this along to him for a long term borrow.

I have a lot of experience with Widows and bows of the Shrew/Griffin heritage, but this is my first Great Plains.

Thanks
David
Hunting with the bow and arrow involves earning your way by making meat, getting your hands messy in the process and then recognizing your own reflection upon them.

I just referanced my New G/P catalog and Bill calls for a brace height of 8-8 1/2" for the 60" Kiowa.
I have no actual experience with this model however, I am quite familiar with the 1 pc "B" model "Red River" which is also 60" and I have a 58" SR Swift "Black Hawk" along with a T/D longow with 2 sets of limbs.  As you might guess, I am very pleased with his bows.  As a note.. in the catalog he states that a 60" Kiowa is fine for a draw lenght of 24-30" and that it's made in the same limb style style and feel as his "B" model bows.  They shoot and feel great... Your friend should love it.  :wavey:

David, they are great shootin bows! A friend of mine, Mike Cochran, from Indiana, was one of Bill's first dealers. I had a chance to shoot alot of them and made quite a few f.f. strings for them. You and your friend won't be dissapointed. Bill is great bowyer and gentleman. Good shootin, Steve

Thanks guys, I'm hoping to have a string in the mailbox today and give it a whirl.
