I was wondering how you who own Brackenbury or Wes Wallace T.D.'s eliminate that first draw "creak" sound you sometimes get after leaving your bow strung for awhile.  Afte the first draw I never hear it again but that drives me nuts hearing anything at all.

Sometimes this occurs because of the rubbing of the limb against the riser where they contact. If you take the limbs off and use some "String Lube" or some other type of string preparation and rub it onto the riser and limbs it will cure it. A bowyer told me to do this whenever that occurs. Even though the limbs are locked down against the riser there is still some movement against the riser.

I had a brand new Schafer Silvertip recurve doing it. The bow could sit 1 hour, then creak the first time it was drawn back....a good coat of plain ol string wax fixed the problem, and last for months.

On every takedown I have,I put a heavy duty,self sealing,laminating sheet on the riser,trim to fit,and it will last for years,one of my Wallace TDs has the same laminating sheet for 15yrs now,no more "creaks".

I've had two Bracks over the years and both would creak on the first draw. String wax on the pads cured them.

What is this "heavy duty, self sealing, laminating sheet" that you are talking about and where do you get it?

Simple laminating sheets,you can probably find them at wallmart.

  Sorry I didnt see your question,been out fishing,friday was opening day,for fluke,been out since.I get the laminating sheets,from my hardware store True Value.Like Grinch said,you can probably get them in walmart.They are clear plastic,heavy duty self adhesive sheets.What I get is called The Protector,6 41/2x61/2 sheets for about $2.

Thanks guys.  I was really wondering why anybody would spend $1000.00 or more for a bow that would spook a deer on the first draw!  I used the string wax and then went to the laminated sheets, no more creaks.
