Has anybody ever used JB weld for steel broadheads to steel adapters?

R.W.

Haven't used JB Weld for that purpose (gluing broadheads) but I have used it to fix cracked engine blocks.

Can't see why it wouldn't work a charm for fixing a B'head to a steel adapter. Just be sure to to degrease-remove all oil from both pieces.

Naptha should work well. (Outside, please.)

I used the 4 minute stuff and wish I would have used one that gave me a little more time to get it on straight. I just did one, I bet it never comes off but as cheap as adapters are why would you ever mess with taking one off any way?  I am new to this and it takes me forever to get one of those things perfect.

I have never used JB weld for that purpose. I think it would not hold up very well but ya never know until you try. Let us know how it works.
Its not the size of the animal you hunt that matters. Its how you hunt the animal.

Bucky,

Lots of guys use JB weld, including Dr. Ashby. It'll work just fine.

Can it also be used to glue the brass inserts in the carbon arrows?

Mo. Huntin

good question If I can get away from that stinken messy apoxy all together I would be happy.  So does any body use it for inserts on carbon arrows?

Rob DiStefano

i use a good grade of slow set epoxy for broadhead to adapter bonding, and brass and alum insert bonding to both carbon and alum shafts.  have been usung nhp epoxy for many years, excellent bond, waterproof (unlike 5 minute epoxy) and will debond with flame heat.

Anybody use it for gluing brass inserts to carbon arrows?

Bucky....all I use is JB Weld for ALL INSERTS. I even used JB to epoxy my xtra long broadhead adapters to the inserts.

I use the 24 hour AAE epoxy to glue my 160 grizzlies to the 100gr. brass inserts. Sharpster gave me a GREAT tip for getting your broadhead to insert perfectly straight using an electric drill. And I also use the same epoxy to glue insert to beman mfx's. I thoroughly clean all surfaces to be glued with denatured alcohol. Especially the inside of the carbon shafts. Never had any seperate. Even when I try! Thats the down side.
