Looking to buy a takedown longbow. I have narrowed it down to Crow Creek or Lewis Hollow. If someone has shot both how do they compare and is the fit and finish better on one than the other. Thanks Travis

There are many good moccasin tracks along the trail of a straight arrow: ( fox )

I'm sorry I can't help with your choice from an information point of view.  I have heard good about both.  Good luck with your decision.

ttt for 4 point.....

I can only speak for the Crow Creek since I have 2 of them.  Great bows built by a super nice guy.

Yekrut, It's 60 miles east of Pierre.

Hi 4 point. I'm a former South Dakotan myself. Your in a good area, bet you shoot some geese, ducks, and pheasants in addition to deer? Just wanted to tell you that I have had a couple of Crow Creek longbows and have been very impressed by the high quality of them, very good performance, fit and finish is great, and I really liked the grip, but the grip thing is very subjective. Don't know how long Elmer Patton is going to keep making bows, so I'd snap up a Crow Creek if I had to make the decision.

I have never shot a crow creek. I have shot a Lewis Hollow. I saw the one that was donated to the South Dakota Bowhunters banquet this year. You could call Al at Black Hills archery and find out how the guy who bought it likes it. I guess he shoots there everyday. I am told He has owned and shot a lot of different bows.

Good Luck

Thanks for all the info. I see there is a Crow Creek in the classifieds, might give it a try before I spend the money on a new one.

Travis,

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with one of Elmer Patton's bows. He built one for me and I received it last summer. I will say, that I didn't buy one before I actually got to shoot one. Elmer builds a grip on his bows that fits him, it seems that either people love it, or they don't. He had the riser on hand, and built the limbs to my specs when I ordered it. I got the Blackfeather, so that I could always add a set of heavier limbs.

The one that is for sale in the classifieds right now is one heckuva deal, about half price to what he will build you one for. That being said, if you don't like the grip......it will be easy to recover your money. Like someone else said, who knows how much longer he will be building bows, and if it were me (which it isn't) I would jump all over the one for sale.
I can tell you one thing, mine isn't going ANYWHERE.

Elmer is most definately one of the "good uns".
