Hey all,

I need some help.  My son has been in cub scouts for 5 years.  He has worked hard through out his time in scouts and I couldnt be more proud of him.  The arrow of light is pretty much the culmination of a cubs time in scouts.  Of all the awards a Cub earns the Arrow of Light is the only one he can wear as a Boy Scout.

Now for the disapointing part.  Mac's Scout leader dropped the ball bad.  The awards were not filled out till durring the middle of their blue and gold banquet.  The Boy Scouts who usually dress up as indians and welcome the new members to the pack were never notifed so that part of the cerimony didnt happen.  Most anoying of all,  There were no presentation arrows for the boys.

Now I am sure all of you Trad shooters out there just "pushed away from your computers with a GASP of Horror."

I want to fix this for my boy.  In the past I have seen some truly amazing works of art posted here as boy scout presentation arrows.  I want to get one of these for Mac.  Not looking for a freebie.  This post is simply to put me in touch with one of you great folks who makes these arrows in their spare time.  So,  send me a PM and thanks all for your listening to my Rant.

I hope you find some help, Brian.     The Arrow of Light ceremony is certainly a moving experience. I am not talented enough to make the arrow or I'd be glad to.  For those who have never seen one, here a couple of pics of my son, Caleb, at his.  He is the tall one in the center.

These are the ones I have been making for my Pack. I would be happy to send you one if you'd like.

I have to come to the defense of the Cubmaster here, being the Cubmaster of a Pack of 70 boys. The odds are that he doesn't have enough help from the parents to get everything done. The odds are that his family suffers because he is trying to do the right thing by the kids in the community. The Blue and Gold dinner is the biggest event in the Scouting year for us. The Boy Scouts should be handling the Bridging Ceremony but the Pack should be awarding the Arrow of Light. The parents of the Webelos Den should be making sure that their sons are receiving the arrow if they want them to have one. If something isn't getting done in Scouts, its usually because the parents who don't help have dropped the ball, not the parents who are volunteering (Cubmaster). Getting parents to get off their butts and help their own children is the biggest challenge of any Cubmaster!

I'm sure that someone in my Pack thinks that I'm not doing enough!

you got that right!

When I was a Cub, my mom became a den leader. She worked her butt off and without much help from the parents for the most part. she kept it up a few years after I moved on to the scouts.

Good times back then!
