It been a tuff couple days chasing turkeys with my recurve this year. I pulled a late tag and only had public land to hunt.
Had seen and had lot a birds working all week, but i couldn't get any to come in close enough. Heck they weren't even in gun range...lol
Didn't go Wednesday because of the rain and I had hurt my back on Tuesday...chasing gobblers of all things   :knothead:
Well this morning I got up late, back still killin me, I packed up my gear and head out to the WMA. Got there bout 9am. I spoke with a fella for a bit he said he had some good action this morning. I immediately said to myself...you dummy you missed it and your here too late.
I headed out despite my feeling and were to go exactly. I headed to any area I had some birds goin on Monday and set up my blind. Dang if it wasn't 15 minutes and I had my first bird come by. He was weary and would come close enough for a shot.
About 10 or so things started heating up and I could hear gobblers goin nutz off in the distance. But it sounded as if they were moving off. I didnt have a good feeling and decided to stop calling for about an hour.
Around 11am I picked up my slate and gave a few soft clucks and little purrin. GOBBLE GOOBLE GOOBLE... blast to the left of me and very close!!! I peaked out my port hole and said holy sh*t they're right there.
Long story short...I got a little antsy, rush a shot my limb hit the top of the blind and my arrow went crazy. Not freakin out I grabbed another arrow, settled in on the tom that was makin he way outa there. Wiff...tooo high   DAMN!!!
Grabbed my third and last arrow; told my self to calm the hell down and pick a damn spot. The seond bird was still with in range and stopped 22 yards from me. Anchored up picked my spot...and let'er fly. Kaaaathunk!! Bird jumps, run off 25  yards and.....

19 lbs
10 7/8 bear
1 1/16 spurs
Killed with my samick recurve, beeman matrix arrows tipped with 200 gr tusker aztecs. This was my first turkey with my recurve! I am on cloud 99 today!!!!
