Well it was almost two years ago my wife eye'd an old bow in the corner of the local bow shop and said she'd be interested in learning to shoot a recurve with me. She practiced, and patiently let me blab on and on about form and such. In short order she was a 3D shooting machine! Last year was her first year hunting and she and I had a lot of fun, but no close encounters with wildlife.

Well Saturday morning she and I pushed on through sprouting fields,a steady misting rain, and distant rolling thunder and set up on a hill top in an old double blind. The turkeys were gobbling at the thunder and she and I smiled at each other each time a bird spoke up.

The morning passed with birds far away, but I knew we were in a pristine location. Brittany was napping while I practice my mouth calls. Suddenly from my right bobbed five red heads.

A firecracker of excitement exploded as I nuddged (ok, almost tackled in my excitment) Brittany. Her eyes were wide and white with a look  disorientation and adrenilin. The five birds swaggered in between the decoys at a mere five yards. I silently thanked the Lord the birds were so close and this wonderfull oppurtunity for my precious wife.

She squeked in excitment, "which one do I shoot?"
"Pick one! Anyone, just shoot!" I nervously whispered back.

Brittany drew as the limbs of a bow older than her bent in killer silence, just like she practiced. The realase was good and her tamed arrow sailed straight through five feet of air into the sweet spot on the last jake in the bunch. I could finnaly breathe again.

"You did it I yelled!"

Cool story!I tried to get my wife to be a turkey hunter but failed.I can live vicariously through you though.

Congrats to both of you on a great day!

The bird rolled and flopped and in an instand we were running down the hill. I knew the bird was running on his last breath, but Turkey's have one heck of a camoflague job so I wasn't taking any chances. In short time we stood hugging at the bottom of the hill, gasping at what Brittany had just done. I was pretty proud of her. Brittany was thrilled, and a little speechless. We just sat and looked at the pretty bird and talked for a the next hour about the events that had just unfolded...

This was the first time she'd harvested anything, much less with her bow. It was great. Through the experience I think she's starting to understand why we as traditional archers love being apart the nature that surrounds us, and watching arrows sail through the air.

Here's Brittany and her Trophy Jake.

How awesome!

I never thought you could fit two people in a little double bull, much less shoot with another in there.  I guess it  would be doable if it was your wife   :goldtooth:
