OK, I shoot a 62# longbow or recurve right now. I shoot GT's 55/75 with 175gr points with 70gr of added weight, all up front. Total wt. 545gr. I've read a few of the heavy arrow articles and I was thinking of adding another 60gr. If I added 30 more up front and 30 more at the tail would I likely keep the spine roughly the same? These arrows fly great right now and I am fortunate that I can shoot the same arrow out of both bows. I have also gotten complete passthroughs on bears, hogs, deer etc. BUT these articles are getting to me. Would fishing line or something else work better? (I have a dozen with Wensels but I am about to order more).

The weight tubes work pretty well and come in different grains per inch.

blackpepper! put a paper wad in the front and another wad in the back. doesn't apsorp moisture..and won't shift and blow out the nocks (if they aren't glued).

Your almost 9gpp if that is working good I would just stick with it. I used weed whacker string in some but it's noisy and the nocks keep popping out all the time. If you want to add a little more weight try 100 gr brass inserts and shorter arrows.

why mess with something that works. You can't get any better then complete passthroughs
I try not to let my mind wander...It is too small and fragile to be out by itself.

I totally agree with Jerry on this one. Unless you have plans for something huge (bigger than a moose) I wouldn't change a thing.

Jerry....how's it goin buddy?

Like Buffalo said if you are getting good flight and apparently great penetration why would you mess with it. One thing to remember about magazine articles......a wise man once said "Those that can do and those that can't write about it"

Weed whacker line is awesome for adding weight to carbons. It's thin enough so you could add up to 3 strands in a shaft. Not sure how much weight it adds but my guess would be 3-4 gpi per strand.
Just one more step please!

With .065DIA. snipper line I get 60grains totalin a 29.5" shaft by using 3 strands. Actually I measure out one long stand and fold it 3 ways to add a bit of resistance inside the shaft. Easier to pull out one length than 3....

I'd leave it alone if it was me because just the trajectory difference alone will mess you up for a little bit till you get used to it..

but I use to put weedwacked line inside my shafts and cut them so they are 1/8 longer than the back of the shaft (with the nock removed)

it never effected spine and the FOC never seem to change also.

I'd stop reading those articles.

It doesn't matter how or what you shoot, as long as you hit your target.
