We headed back to MD's house and had a fine big farmer breakfast waiting for us. His wife Julie is a serious hunter too and had considered joining us in the blind. She made up for sleeping in with her cooking.

The bird weighed in at 21.3# with one spur 1.25" and the other just under 1". He sported a fluffy 10" beard and bore the scars of many a battle. MD figured him for an old bird.

This turkey hunting is a thrill. Our regs allow us a second tag for the last of our four seasons which this year is April 29 through May 17. I don't consider myself a great shot, but I do figure I'm dangerous given enough chances. Already thinking about a self bow and a stone point for that late season...

Fine job Shaun !! Congratulations
Might be the bow. I can even hit stuff with it  ;)

You better set those decoys a little closer next time...I am right with you about the "not being a great shot" thingy...I was glad my shot was 11  feet !

What a great story!

Up close and personal and just dangerous enough. A fine hunt for sure Shaun

Very well done Shaun! Great pics too.

Got me pumped for tomorrow morning. I'll be trying it with my '62 Kodiak Magnum out of a blind. I have the leather top quiver on mine as well, maybe I can "borrow" a bit of your mojo through it.

Congrats Shaun!  That is a nice bow and it shot quickly and with good manners.

I called in a tom for my 10 year old (shotgun), 7.5" beard, 3/4" spurs.  It took 1/2 hour of calling and brought the hens over who took the toms with them.  One of the best hunts of my life.

Now it's my turn with the bow.  625 grain arrow with a 250 grain WW on the front, four fletched with some feathers from someone else's discard tom.

Very cool, awesome deal there, Congrats!
