I used to shoot my Martin Vision (46lb @ 32")
with Beman MFX 400 100gn target points, that I had from another bow.
Now I purchased some Beman MFX 500 shafts and they have brass inserts with 75gn and you can brake of 25gn at the end. They are 31" long.

Will the arrows be to soft with the 75gn insert and a 125gn target point?

Should I just glue in the 50gn insert and then try 100gn and 125gn points?

thanks for any info,
Stefan

When I try out some carbons I tune them before I glue in any inserts.I use some saran wrap or plastic food wrap,I push the insert in with some of the saran wraps to hold the insert in snug. But you need to shoot it into a softer bag target. The saran wrap will hold the insert and point in and the softer bag target doesn't grab tight enough to pull the insert and point back out. This doesn't work on a harder target like a foam target, you might lose your point.I get my carbon arrows tuned without any glue or heat. After I get them tuned to the proper length I'll then clean and prep for gluing in the inserts. The 500's are a weaker spine then the 400's.

Thank you.
I will do that.
The new inserts are quite a bit heavier than the old ones. So I think, I´ll glue in the lighter version and try different points, otherwise the arrow will get to soft.
