Anyone been able to find inserts for carbons heavier than 100grains?  If so, where?  Thanks.

we tap the back end of the brass inserts and install the weights from the other insert weight system(forgot the name-there in 3 rivers) you can add and extra 100 grains i think and they have all different combos to try.

i think it is a 8/32s tap size.

You can use a standard brass 8/32 machine screw as well.  I think they weigh around 50 grains per inch.  I used to glue those in the back of aluminum inserts.

Stoney, I have some with two 80grn .243 cal butted together at the ends and epoxied in behind a standard insert. with a 125 grn point its puts it in there at 300 grn plus. never had one break lose yet.

The GoldTip system can get them up pretty heavy. The weights are available at Black Widow.

I just got some of the 200, 225 and 250 field  points delivered today from 3 Rivers. Its an easy affordable way to get high FOC.

What kind of broadhead are you shooting, and what total point weight are you hoping to arrive at?  It might be easier to use the steel broadhead adapters if you are using a type of broadhead that can be glued on.  Those come in different weights as well, and combined with a regular aluminum insert or even a brass insert might give you the weight you are looking for.

Currently I am shooting a 50 grain brass insert, 100gr steel adapter, + 160gr STOS broadhead or a 125 gr Woodsmen + 125gr steel adapter + the same 50 grain insert.  That puts my point weight between 300-310gr.  I have a hankering to experiment with some bullheads, and just want to match weights with what I am using.  Problem is they are 125 grain screw ins negating the adapter, etc.   So basically I have to come up with a way to put a 175 grain insert into my setup.  I got some 8/32 machine bolts last night and sure enough they fit, problem is I need more mass.  I am going to look at 3-river's setup and see about that.  Thanks guys.

I've played with lead worm weights bolted to the back of the adapter. Being conical they stack straight and lead is easy to drill out for the bolt. The hard part is finding ones that will fit within your shaft but we found some tiny ones at a local bass shop. You can definitely tell the density of the lead over steel.

I've also played around with modifying field points. Cut flush, drill and tap a field point to accept a broadhead on it's end. Screw the field point to the shaft, the broadhead to the field point. It works, but it's a lot of work getting it just how you want it.

JC,  All is well here, just busy as we all are.  Teachings good, working on the farm, and anxiously awaiting turkey season.  I will give your lead weight idea some thought.  Sure would tap out easier than steel.  Good to hear from you!
