Bought a black widow MAIII with narrow arrow shelf.  Does this narrow shelf have impact on the arrow spine to be using. Bow is 55# at my 29 inch draw length. Using 29 1/2 inch 2216's now.
Going to try some 2020's  next week. Will try some 2117's when I find a few.
Anyone have any advice or information?
Thanks in advance;
Bob

I guess it's still cut 3/16" past center isn't it? if it is it should not be any different from the other widows, your shooting style may make some difference.  I have several Black Widows the newer bow shelves are cut(notched) to allow better feather clearance

The narrow shelf on the older recurves won't affect arrow spine at all; the only advantage the newer models have with the wider shelf is that it allows for more building-out of the strike plate, should you wish to get some low-spined arrows flying better.

I have a question for you - is your draw length 29" from the string to the front of the bow or inside of grip (deepest point + 1 3/4"). I am 6 feet tall and everyone else must be 6'5" or bigger. When I used to shoot a recurve I eventually got to 27 3/4 to front of bow (I must not be "average").
Besides all that 2018 worked for me at 55lbs.

Draw length is 29 inches to back of bow.
Bow is cut 3/16 inch.
I am also 6 ft. tall and have a 29 inch draw length and I add 1/2 to 1 inch to arrow  for clearance.
I think the 2216's are part of the trouble; I've shot them for years from 64# howatt hunter and also 2219.
I'll try the 2020's and some 2117's and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the help to everyone.

Yup, they may be a tad stiff with 125 grain head. You could up point weight or as ya said try a 2020. Shawn
