My 16 year old son Tyler and I will be in Okeechobee, FL from this Sat. afternoon until Thurs. evening and are looking for some ideas of things and places to fish, bowfish, and bowhunt. We have a 17' Skeeter bass boat to fish from. We are dropping my wife and two daughters off for a cruise.

Izzy

When do we depart?Im sure you two fellas will find something to poke with an arrow.By the way I just saw the size of the tilapia they shoot down there and man do they eat well.Maybe give em a try.Looking forward to the stories.Have fun and be safe.

Terry,
There are plenty of fishing and bowfishing opportunities in the area. Okeechobee has easy access to the lake at public ramps and maps of the lake are available at most bait shops.
Bow fishing is legal for non-game fish day and night. Gar, Mudfish, etc... No bass or panfish.
A nonresident fishing license is $17.00 for 3 days and I think $30.00 for 7 days.
Anyone 16 and over must have a license.
Check down below on the Florida state organization forum and you'll get a lot more answers. I know there are hog hunting opportunities in Okeechobee but I don't know the name of the outfitters. I live about 3 hours north of Okeechobee but my wife is from there.
Enjoy the fishing, some of the best in the state!

Izzy, we leave on Friday. My dad has a place on Okeechobee and I know some good fishing. I've not bowfished there but will give it a go. Tyler and I did bowfish for the alligators, but that's not an option.

Sendero25, I appreciate the information! Thank you. I see some shoot talipia. My dad's place is loaded with them. Can I shoot them?

gregg dudley

Shoot the tilapia until your arm gets tired and then shoot some more.  THey are non-native and invasive and eat well.  There is not a limit or season on them.

Post pics when you get back.

Hey Terry and Tyler, Good luck! Shoot plenty of film on your adventure. Let me know if you find a good place to hog hunt-would love to get back to Florida for some hog hunting! Good luck, Bill

IndianaBowman

Thanks Bill! I contacted the outfit you used to hog hunt with and they do not offer hog only any longer.

Kevin, I have four written that I need to turn in to Jack. I hope we can get a decent one out of this trip.

Terry,

How long will you be there ( or here I should say?) If the stars line up right I may be able to help.
