Friends call me Pac

Took my SIL stump shooting today with Oldskools version of the bomb proof stumping arrow.

About 30 minutes into our trek in the woods we both made very nice shots on a stump.  We walked to the stump and as I bent down to pull my arrow out I noticed the leaves were rustling a little from the wind.  Only problem was there wasn't any wind.  Took a closer look and saw a good sized snake working his way through the rotten bottom of the stump and only inches from our arrows.   :scared:

He wouldn't leave the stump and since I knew it was a black snake I went ahead and pulled the arrows.

A little while later we shot another rotten log and guess what was streatched out on the top of it?  Yep another snake.

As we made our way back to the truck we both drilled a stump with an exposed root system.  As we pulled our arrows out the biggest swamp rabbit I have seen came out of the roots and dang near ran us over!  I guess he was mad because we had almost inadvertently skewered him and he was wanting some revenge.

After the two snakes I was on high alert.  When that rabbit busted out of there and tried to trample us I knew it was about time to call it a day.  I didn't believe I could take much more excitement.

We sure had a ball today.  If you haven't been stumping you really need to give it a try.

I'd love to go stumping, but it's snowing & can't get up into the hills. Frank

Same here this afternoon Pac...stumpshooting and buried an arrow under a small rotten log. Went to pick it up and about 4 fairly large Garter Snakes took off for the rocks.

After my feet hit the ground I decided to shoot in the backyard at leaves....I hate snakes!

Yep, nothing like a big old bull snake rearing up, looking you in the eye and asking if you're going to try that again. Them big ol'anacondas and such didn't have anything on that guy that day.
