UPS just dropped this off for me. Black & brown dymondwood riser. Carbon backed limbs with   clear ceramic belly over Black Walnut veneers. 60" 50@30. Will get shooting pics later, have to go get my boy at school.

Now you have. I got lucky to get it. The stuff is harder to get a hold of than the black. Stealth high-tech!    :biglaugh:

Sounds like the stuff they are making the invisible handguns out of to fool the airport screeners.  :)

Actually they use it to make the armor for our troops.

Man thats a great looking bow! Any idea what speed you lose going with the belly veneer? Best Swan Ive seen yet thats for sure.

ishoot4thrills

Very nice, unique looking bow ya got there. Should be a good shooter, too, with the forward riser.

"Carbon ceramic", is not too uncommon a name although imo vastly misleading
- used for core, i assume it is carbon microballons syntactic foam, perhaps even mesophase(pitch) hollow spheres?
- for facings probably similar fibres (as opposed to PAN fibre)

Both above will never be transparent. Unless somethin Really new has been invented.

Several oxide ceramics promise better properties than glass could they be manufactured...not likely to be transparent either but,
Some glasses may be crystallised after manufacture, like Corning transparent "glass-ceramic" kitchenware. Corning had the patent anyway. The trick is to crystallise the thing into grains or crystallites smaller than the wavelength of light.

I look forward to hearing more about these bows, and this material.

"ceramic" btw. means pottery, enter the pottery bow?

yep, that's the best looking swan I've seen...send 'er down and I'll give it a test run  :bigsmyl:

Thanks guys it's fast. Was shooting 30.5" Axis 400s with 300 up front. Doesn't seem to lose anything with the veneer.

The ceramic polymer is the belly lam, the core is maple actionwood.

Anytime you want to shoot it Larry come-on up. This one isn't leaving without me.    ;)
