I cant decide on which one and dont have the option of shooting the bows. Which would you get, I only have the money for one and it has been impossible for me to find a 66" 50-55# @ 33" draw so i think used is out of the question.

Thats a tough one, all excellent bows. I have a Foley longbow its great,I have shot a couple of Chastains, real nice also. Never shot an Assenheimer but have heard good things.

Love my Assenheimer, smooth, plenty fast and great fit/finish.

I own an Assenhiemer and like it alot. But my favorite bow is my Chaistain. I own 2. The grips are about the same the real differance is in the weight of the bow the Assenheimer weighs more then the Chaistains.

If you have 33 inch draw, I think a Chastain is the bow for you.  Keiths fish hook limbs really open up late in the draw cycle.  That makes for a very smooth drawing bow for knuckle draggers.  I own a couple of Assenhemerbows and 1 Chastain.  They both have their merits but for long draw archers, the Chastain really shines.

Any Foley guys out there?

I dont own a Foley but have shot several. Very smooth. Ron is great to deal with. They are on my short wish list.

Keith Chastain builds a heck of a bow. Reasonably priced,too. I would discuss it with him on the phone. He knows what works for tall guys, because he isn`t really short either.
He only builds very durable bows,too. If he sells it, it works.

Chastain is the only one I have had but it is a fine shooting bow. His limb tips really do a fine job at making it smooth and fast. Good luck on what ever you choose..........Chort

i have a Foley and it shoots good. It's my bow to go. I like it the best  out of all my other bows. Give Ron a call. He also has a long draw length, and he's a good guy to talk to.

Bob, I owned a Foley T/D recurve and it was the most accurate bow I have ever owned bar none! I have personally owned several dozen high end bows over the years. If I ever had another custom made it would more than likely be a Foley. Ron Foley lives about  1 1/2 hours from me and he is a great guy to deal with. Just ask anyone who has ever met him and they will tell you the same thing!

Hello Bob L. I am sure they are all good bows, unfortunately I have never those brands, I can say with your draw you should give Mike Rash of Legends bows a call ( sponser on this site). Mikes bows can handle your set up, Mike has a similar draw and he is the bowyer I am very confident he will set you up. Thanks Jerry.

Ditto on the Chastain...very durable, nice grip, smooth draw.

I n my opinion I would never own a chastain again as Ive had one and thats one to many. Im sorry to all you chastain shooters as there are a lot of them and there must be a reason for that. Personally I did not see it as the crafstmanship was some of the worst I have seen. He still had yellow pencil marks on the bow "cut marks" and runs in the finish. Ive since met other people all withe same issues. JMO good luck

I have been shooting Assenheimer bows since 1984. You will not find better quality for the price and Don stands behind his bows. I still shoot my original bow and I shoot almost every day. .....

I had a 3 peice Chastain that turned into a 4 peice at full draw and then I got his split limb take down but didn't have the glue to put back together.

I see some have answered with problems with Chastain Bows. Are they works of art? Art is in the eyes of the beholder. I think yes. They are hunting bows meant for rough use. As for workmanship and warranty I also had one turn in to a 4 piece. Spoke with Keith about it and explained what happened. He had me send the bow back. He sent the bow back with a new set of limbs and a new warranty. His custormer service, craftmanship, and bow performance are oustanding. That is why I own 2 and would own more except the misses whould have a fit. Everyone that ask to shoot my bows are sold on them and want one also. You can't go wrong with a Chastain.

Never shot a chastain, but have heard repeatedly over the years that the finish is among the worst out there (meaning saw marks, etc). Have also read about way too many archers who have had issues with cracked limbs, etc. No thanks-I'd definitely go with the assenheimer or foley.
