Does anybody know of a recurve that is smooth, somewhat fast and is longbow quite. Glenn

Caribow Tuktu.

Great Plains, Texas Longcurve

Acadian Woods, Classic recurve

Fox, High Sierra

I still think all bows can be made whisper quiet with a little tinkering, with brace height and arrow weight, and placement of silencers.

Whisperstik. They're named that for a reason.

Apex Predator

None are longbow quiet, but the best I've shot was the Great Northern Ghost.

I agree with Kevin L.  Whisperstik Mojostik... JD make a fine bow..

The only ones I've seen that were as quiet or quieter also performed worse then the longbows. There is some nature of the beast mixed in!  :) ...O.L.

Actually O.L. I had one of your earlier recurves that you made for Chuck Horton, here in Ks. and like a fool I sold it back to him. That was one of the few that had performance and a low noise level. Now I'm looking for another quite recurve. The one I have now shoots a good arrow but even with the beaver balls it's noisy compared to my Mohawk. Glenn

Glenn, And folks wonder why I quit making recurves!  :) ...O.L.

My experience parallels Apex Predator's.  My bamboo Ghost is as quiet a recurve as I've heard.  And in bamboo, it's quite fast and smooth.

My quietest recurve is my Quinn Stallion Classic, it's deffinately THE smoothest bow I've ever shot and has plenty of speed.

Assenheimer's and wapiti T.D.  made by Kieth Chastain. Both very smooth and quiet.

All I will say is shoot a Morrison Shawnee with foam cores and no string silencers then you tell me. Enough said.

What would you attempt to do, if you knew you could not fail?

thanks for all the responses guys this will give me some good ideas to compare. I notice nobody mentioned the high dollar black widow, not that I could afford one anyhow. thanks Glenn

L82HUNT

Blackwidows normally are a little bit louder, but put wool yarn on the string where it touches the limb as padding this makes the bow as quite as the best of them.

lilbobby

I have a Bob Lee that's pretty quiet, took me a little while but with double silencers she quieter than my Widow L.B.: But she's not as quiet as my Bob Lee L.B.!

Assenheimer recurves are probably the quietest I've shot with Whispersticks and Rose Oaks being right there close.

I have never heard a recurve as quiet as my Great Northern Ghost. I use 1 Woolly Whisper divided in two on the string. It's as close to longbow quiet as you can get and is as fast as or faster than any recurve I've shot.
