Sorry to be a pest guys but I find myself interested in archery again for the 1st time in a while...question is which do you prefer flemish twist or the endless loop style of bowstring and why? I have one of each the flemish on a bear kodiak longbow, and the "loop" style on a shakespeare recurve...Kevin

There are no "pests" here. That is what we're all about, is helping people the best we can with answers to their questions.

Personally, I prefer flemish twist strings. To me it's as much about looks as anything. Don't know what, if any, advantages there may or may not be by using either one. Maybe someone else can chime in on this, too.

I prefer flemish strings as well for two primary reasons.  It's stronger in the loop area where all of the individual strands of the string go around the loop, as opposed to being split with an endless string where only half the strands go around the loop.  Also, because the flemish string isn't served in the limb tip area, it's usually quieter, particularly on recurves.  IMO, they look nicer, too.

Flemish for me, for the exact same reasons mentioned above.  I also like the simplicity of building one without any fancy jigs required.  I do use a jig for laying out my lengths, but it is a time saver only.

Killdeer

I like a Flemish because I can adjust its length by twisting it up or down. Easier for me to make, too.
