On his web site Lucas is pictured drawing each of his designs.

Regardless of whether he is using a thumb ring or three finger draw, he is drawing all the way back to his ear.  He's well past the corner of his mouth where I've seen most people anchor.

I think that is normal for the thumb ring method?

Is that how you Saluki shooters draw?

elkbreath

Nah, I always just shot "normal"  ( to the tooth)

I have been looking at the Saluki bows for a while and have talked to Lucas a few times and he was very helpfull. Well last week I ordered one, I decided on a 54" Turk at 48#s. When I get it I will post some pic's and details. Saluki owners, lets see some pic's guys

TheFatboy

Thanks for sharing the info Paul. Think I will choose it with a shelf though - after all, that's what I'm used to   :)

Email Lukas, and ask your heart out, he is in brazil now doing a clinic, but will be back in a few weeks. Good luck.
I wouldn't mind e-mail'ing him, but if there are wise people on this forum too, I would rather hear your experiences, than taking Lukas' time.

Back to the wood question... think it's possible for him to use black ash or maybe yew in the bow? It's not on the 'list', but since it isn't a rare nor expensive treesort... i hope there might be a way. I want it all to be perfect. Yes, I'm quite the perfectionist.

After much thinking, i think i found out which woods i would like to use! Thanks for all the help and information people.

Now, would the Saluki owners shoot some pictures of their own bows, to please the rest of us? That would not be too shabby  :)

There is a Saluki for sale on the classifieds, that is a beauty. It's a 58" Ibex 49@28" I would be interested if I hadn't already orderd mine.

TheFatboy

Thanks for the tip, i just saw it. But i'm a real perfectionist, and i have already spent alot of time figuring the details for my order. I appreciate your thought though  :)

Could someone compare these to one of Rodney Wright's Firehawks ?  I like the looks of both, and they seem alot alike. I'm already a fan of Rodney's, love my Stalker, but have never shot the FireHawk or a Saluki.  Has anyone else, like maybe Pete Ward, shot both ?  thanks....  :campfire:

RLA

I think that the biggest difference between the Firehawk and a Saluki is the Saluki has Siyahs, static tips and the Firehawk dosen't. Im sure someone else can tell us the other details about the Firehawk I have only seen pics.  Well I bought the bow that I had mentioned in the above post. The bow is a 58" Ibex 49@28, rare white ebony riser and overlays with yellow heart limb cores. The limb back is bloodwood with zebrawood split lams and the belly is red heart. The limbs have white micarta tips. I will have some pics up soon.

Here are the pics.
