how can one tell if the bow I have is compaitable to fast flight type string materials?

What kind of bow and who made it and do you know how old it is? Usually it will have tip overlays,maybe hardwood or like micarta or phenolic.

its a fleetwood recurve bought it at a sporting goods store nothing to fancy hers a pic not the greatest if a different pic is needed let me know i can get one for you thanx fo ryour help

pad the loops and it will probably be right. i know someone you uses FF with padded loops on selfbows without overlays and never had a problem

Looks like a Dacron only tip. I don't see a reinforcing layer in the tip in that pic.

yup vermonster just got an email back from a guy that makes strings dacron only guess it has worked for years its good enough for me

Pad the loops-- Its great insurance against a trashed bow.  I trashed 3 bows w/FF before I started padding the loops--never a prob. again with 10's of thousands of shots out of a doz. diff bows-recurves, long bows , self bows --whatever- take the time to pad em.  I wrap mine w/dental floss.  Electrical tape will do as well,if you're not inclined  to taking up any time on the "project."
